The Trabocchi Coast takes its name from these ancient fishing machines, built on stilts and connected to the mainland by wooden walkways. Each trabocco has its own story to tell: they are true works of ingenuity that testify to the profound bond between man and the sea.

One of the most famous traboccos is undoubtedly the Trabocco Turchino, located in the municipality of San Vito Chietino. Immortalized by Gabriele D'Annunzio in his novel The Triumph of Death, the Trabocco Turchino is a place brimming with charm and poetry. The poet described it as a “fishing machine with a fantastic appearance,” perfectly in harmony with the wild and romantic landscape that surrounds it.
