We stayed here last weekend for a birthday trip and I wish we had stayed somewhere else. Woke up early on my birthday, took a shower and had NO TOWELS. Walked downstairs looking like a drowned rat to get towels from the front desk and talked with another guest while waiting. She told me about a special birthday discount she got so when the guy returned with my towels I inquired about the birthday specials. He just said "sorry, that comes from corporate. Maybe next time." He didn't even offer the free birthday drink from the bar- which is the least he could have done. Well, actually the least he could have done was wish me a happy birthday, but whatever. It was a bad start to my day. Aside from all of that, I didn't feel like our stay was worth what we paid. The tub drained slow, there were make-up stains on the vanity and the valet parking was a rip off considering you can park your car in the same exact lot across the street for almost half the price. Also, we arrived on a Thursday and a trash dumpster was in the road right at the front entrance, blocking traffic and making it difficult to get to the front door for drop offs. It was there until Saturday afternoon. The location is on the edge of the historic district, which means you can walk to all the cool places to visit, but it is also on the edge of a bad part of town, which means the people in the bad part are within walking distance of you. We felt a little uncomfortable walking back late one night. I was not impressed. I'll find somewhere else to stay on my next trip to Savannah.
Excited to try this place. Looked hip and modern. Liked the idea of the dichotomy in an old city like Savanna. And, for the most part the stay was pleasant. However, a couple things stood out as less than acceptable for $200+ per night. Starts with the drop off and front entrance. You have to work around their dumpster parked in the drop off lane - not to mention the kitchen grease trap on the sidewalk nest to the entrance of the hotel. Not a classy welcome. Then the broken tile in the elevators, the splotched paint on the the closet door in our room. The closet door that wouldn't close unless you closed and locked the safe inside. We thought it was a new hotel in the last year, but if so it is suffering a hard life, And, the pool looked just plain gross and unappealing. Location was good. People were great. And rooms were huge. But, it just missed on the small details.
Enjoyed the weekend stay at B. I personally think it was a little overpriced--but I booked only a few days before arriving, so I'm sure that played a factor. Conveniently located, it sits in the heart of the district, but not too close to River and Bay St. crowds. Pro tip: DON'T valet. Especially if you are staying the weekend. Meters are FREE on Saturdays and Sundays and we found several close to the hotel. There is also a parking garage located across the street that is half of what valet costs. Only downside is you do not have in/out privileges. If you're looking to park and go, street parking is the best. Room was clean. Hotel is kind of trendy, shabby-chic. I liken it to a hip, stylish Hilton Garden Inn or Aloft hotel. Restaurant food is good...drinks are better. Beds are extra soft and that's a plus if you like that kinda thing. Definitely enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
The hotel is nice, but the staff detracts from the building. After arriving late in the evening from traveling all day, you don't want the front desk to spend 15 minutes checking you in. The rooms were good, but they weren't as clean as you would expect from such a new property. The hotel restaurant was lovely, but the food was hidious, and the Bloody Marys were terrible. The server made no comment when she removed our breakfast plates with less than 10 percent of our food consumed. Also we were taken back that they were playing rap with x rated lyrics on the restaurant's sound system. We asked (out of curiosity) if that was the normal music, and were informed that "the boss was out, and they can play what they want lol" With all that aside, the hotel looks nice, and the location is not terrible. Some staff members were really nice to us, and the rooms were comfortable. I felt a bit overcharged for the lackluster service, but would stay there again if I found it on sale for less than $200 per night.
We really enjoyed our overnight at B Historic while traveling from Miami home to Kitty Hawk. The lobby/bar/restaurant area was so attractive! We enjoyed drinks and food from the small plate menu. The beds were very comfortable and the room/bathroom immaculate.
The beds were FANTASTIC and the location was ideal. Perfect for walking and exploring the historical city. The bar was small but stocked, and the food smelled wonderful though I didn't get to sample it. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful - will definitely be back.
I stayed at B Historic and found that it's location was perfect since was close to the historic parks, streets and yet just around the corner for shopping/ bars/ restaurants. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
I wouldn't rate this a 4 star hotel like most websites do. Bathroom tub didn't drain properly. Furniture had water damage on it. Front desk was mediocre in answering basic questions. They didn't offer to have anyone help with our bags when checking in. Don't use valet. Park across the street to save money. They wanted to charge $25 a day for valet. I asked the front desk about the parking across the street and she seemed like she didn't know anything about it - but happily offer the $25/day parking they offered (which btw was the same deck the valet used). I decided to research myself. The parking deck was $16 for the whole weekend - as long as you didn't move the car from the parking deck. Which makes a whole lot more fiscal sense since Savannah is a pedestrian city anyways. Pool and weight room were mediocre as well.
Our stay at B Historic was great. It is a convenient walk to just about any point of interest. The hotel is clean, and the staff is very nice. The only "inconvenience" was finding the front entrance of the hotel. We had to drive around the block--big deal. Public parking across the street is $12 M-F. We parked when we got there and then walked everywhere.
Be delighted at B Historic! I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff and service at B Historic. From the moment we arrived until checked, we had an incredible experience and will definitely return soon.
