Should you have a few days off after your conference, consider renting a car and driving to Badlands National Park (just 1.5 hour drive) or to nearby Wind Cave National Park. There is a second memorial being built in nearby Custer called Crazy Horse Memorial which will be the biggest carved monument in the world once it’s finished. The nearby city of Deadwood is also a fun place to visit, home to Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, it is now a national historic site.
