I recently stayed at High Creek Lodge & Cabins and overall had a good experience. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, and the room itself was cozy and comfortable. It’s a great spot if you’re looking to relax and enjoy the area. That said, there were a few cleanliness issues. Some of the dishes were dirty, and the room could have used a more thorough deep clean. With a little more attention to detail on housekeeping, this would easily be a 5-star stay. Overall, still a nice place with a lot of potential.

If you’re headed to Pagosa Springs, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. I booked what was listed online as a “standard queen” room. I have stayed in many standard queen rooms before — this was nothing close to standard. The room was so unbelievably small there were maybe 12 inches of space around the queen-sized bed. There was no dresser, no luggage rack, no closet space — absolutely nowhere to put bags or personal belongings. The only option was to stack everything on the floor and tuck it as close to the bed as possible just to be able to walk around. I have never been in jail, but I imagine a cell would be more spacious and accommodating than this room. The shower was another disappointment. It never got hot — only lukewarm at best. After a long day, a hot shower shouldn’t be too much to ask. And don’t plan on looking presentable while you’re there. There is no iron and no ironing board anywhere in the room or on the property. So if you stay here, plan on staying wrinkled. Customer service was nonexistent. There is no human contact at this place whatsoever. I texted the host to ask if there were any possibilities of upgrading to a larger room, hoping for some kind of assistance. I waited…and waited. Finally, on day two, I received a text from the hotel’s number. I thought it might be a response addressing my question. Instead, it was simply a message reminding me that I needed to be out by 11 a.m. the next day. No follow-up. No acknowledgment.

The checkin and checkout process was easy. The room was clean and nice but the frig didn't keep stuff cold, only the freezer worked. They were just a text away if we needed anything. The breakfast was fresh, hot and yummy every morning and there is also grab and go breakfast if you prefer. Parking is fine too as long as the other guest follow the rules. Wifi is iffy at times unless you are in the breakfast area due to the location and of course the mountains. Nice location and cute little place.
