We stayed here one night and this place was perfect. Your bog-standard two star accommodation. Room and bathroom were clean and appropriately stocked. Room had a fridge and microwave. Heat and A/C worked perfectly. Bed was comfortable. It was perfect for a short stay. After all I'm not buying the room I'm just sleeping there! Front desk greeted us warmly. We booked the room through Hotels.com. We opted to pay when we showed up but they had already processed my card before I got there. There are also no amenities here. Not even a jacuzzi/ spa. Pool was filled in. Breakfast is very basic. Good eateries in town close by. Would return for a quick stay. Price was right for the accommodation

The fact that you can hear all the noise coming from the neighbors is already bad, but for a cheap place I wasn't going to write anything regarding the experience, until the receptionist treated my friend and I in a really rude way. The breakfast are is just three chairs and a table, to everyone. You either have to eat outside or in your bedroom, you can't even eat standing. He was really rude and told us both to just go outside. A really bad experience, and terrible way to start the day. If you want to have a nice time in Monterey, avoid this place.

While this hotel had a great location to shopping and the magnificent Monterey Bay attractions was not a place I would stay again. There were no vending machines and no access to water at this property. The breakfast didn't open until 8:00am and was limited to yogurt and a few small muffins that only sat a few folks at a time. When you used the heater it blew the curtains half way up the room. Very old and could use some remodeling. 👎

Booked as it was centrally located, parking was cheap and had a room that could take five people. Refurbished motel, no pool but outdoor hot tub. Included a basic breakfast but you neede to ask for things when they ran out as was busy and felt it was a chore by the staff

I would call this a nicely outfitted motel since it is small and has limited amenities. The room we had was spacious and nicely furnished with refrigerator. The ac and heat worked nicely but was loud so we turned it off. The room we had was quiet even though it was located on a busy street. The breakfast was limited and the staff was nice. Free parking was available close to the room. The location was convenient and about a 20 minute walk to fisherman's wharf. I would stay here again since the price was reasonable for the area

It appears the Pelican Inn is owned by a family, and it was a fairly recent acquisition. We stayed on the 2nd floor, around the middle, and had a lovely quiet stay there. We had a king, triple-sheeted, nice room (they may not all be so well appointed?). Our only complaint was that the furniture was nicked up - the white wood showing through the brown finish, which seems to be a common problem. Hotel guests appear to be rough, we think, slamming their suitcases on wooden surfaces and banging around the legs of furniture. Shame on them. Anyway, the room was quite reasonable and located right between Monterey and Carmel - about 5 minutes to either place. Just ideal. Nice breakfast room with hot breakfast, as well as usual continental fare. All in all though, a very pleasant establishment, clean, quiet, helpful staff, comfortable bed, well-manicured, nicely landscaped grounds. Highly recommend.

It was ok, nothing special, a little tired but clean and in a good location. Lots of parking and in walking distance to the town. The breakfast was a take away breakfast but we knew that when we book, there was a good choice considering this, with tea/coffee toast, porridge, yogurt, and a few other bits to choose from. It was a quiet spot and a lovely town.

I took my kids on the annual father daughters road trip. This time it was a PCH tour. After stopping at Hearst Castle, and checking out the elephant seals we got stopped on the way to big sur. We defiently wanted to go to Monterey so we had to double back and hit it from Sylvania. It was getting late and had to find a place. We booked this room for at or around 50 bucks and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised. They had clean linen, a clean bathroom, updated tv with cable and WiFi everything you'd need for a single night stay. The service was polite and friendly. I didn't see a phone in the room but hey, what's the point we all have cell phones. Anyway, I'd highly recommend it. Have a good one!

We stopped there for 1 night it was a late check in (9:00 pm approx) the check in was done through a teller looking window outside... it made me wonder if the the place was not safe and that's why the lobby was locked. Thank God the check in was fast as it felt strange to be standing outside. We did call ahead to let the hotel know it was going to be a late check in. I've stayed at other places where the lobby is locked after a certain hour but the unlock it to allow you to make the transaction and then lock behind you. The room was clean. The reason for my low review ...the walls are very thin you can hear everything & I mean everything that's going on in the room next to you ...it was very uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was ok coffee, milk, toast, oatmeal & pastries. I'll be staying somewhere else next time I'm in the area

We stayed one night as we were going on a fishing trip the next day. Small room but very clean, large bathroom. Has small microwave and refrigerator. Bed very comfortable but had only the sheet and light bedspread. I felt cold during the night and there was not an extra blanket anywhere. I wish they had an extra blanket for each bed and there is enough storage space in the room and bathroom to have them. Would stay here again.
