We have now stayed at 6 places across Kauai, Maui and the Big Island, and this rental stands at a tie for #1. We had zero issues or complaints, and loved it. While the studio isn't inside downtown Kona, this was a perk for us, being a 15 minute drive away, we avoided higher rental costs and most of all the constant tourists like us! The studio literally has an ocean view as advertised. The unit is attached/on the bottom floor of the home, and the whole property is elevated above street level with a traditional lava rock wall between the ground level of the property and the busy street below, which means you don't have to deal with any loud traffic and you are perched high up to get a straight line view of the ocean on the other side of the street, especially because this is one spot with no ocean front development directly across from this home. You can hear the ocean waves, especially at night which I found soothing. The weather here, even in "winter" as we stayed for nearly 2 weeks through xmas and new years was warm and rain free. It benefits from typical Kona weather while also having the peace and quiet around you to enjoy the sights and sounds. Your biggest noise problem may be a bird at sunrise that decides he wants to squak outside your window lol. A 5 minute drive away brings you to delicious food vendors, everything from Hawaiian fast food plate lunches to higher end restaurants of various cultures, and a large KTA grocery store and drug store, medical services, etc. We walked to this area a couple times for exercise and it takes about 23 minutes if you are a fast walker. Nearby are two nice beaches, both have snorkelling, one has black sand, the other has white sand. Snorkelling was great, especially at nearby Kahaluu Beach Park. Magic Sands Beach Park (aka White Sands Beach) is even closer in walking distance. The location of this studio really is great. You feel more like a local because you are surrounded by them. Gary the owner is very friendly and gives you all the space you could want and also willing to chat if that's what you're up for when hanging around the yard. There is a pool out back but we used the ocean instead. The pool did look inviting though. Inside the studio, you are provided with literally everything you could need. Not only kitchen and functional stuff, but supplies as well, everything you could possibly need. Clean, beautiful, functional, comfortable, endless positives. Thank you so much Gary!
