Overall a good stay was experienced by all. This was our first time at the hotel and we did not expect the outdoor tiki bar or the DJ on the weekends. Both were huge assets. The only downfall is we wanted to order food on Sunday during lunch time (from the tiki bar) and we were informed that the cook was sent home because the hotel ran out of food - and even the restaurant inside had to be closed. Inside the hotel, it was clean and check in/check out was easy enough. I always wipe down every room I stay in regardless of the hotel with a Lysol wipe and was pleased to say our room was pretty spotless, even the remote. At one time we did ask for an extra sheet and was given a laundry bundle of 25 pillow cases. We will definitely go back and stay again.
This was an awful stay. The room was dirty, we spent 3hrs trying to check in, not even checking in early, the elevators didn't work, the hot tub didn't work, none of the "resort" features worked. They kept messing up our dates, and then would call asking if we were checking out when our reservation was for another couple days! They charged my card multiple times for all these crazy fees. I wouldn't recommend staying here. This was an issue for our entire group, who had multiple reservations.
Great hotel to stay at if visiting the beach. Easy access to outdoor showers to wash sand and salt off. Pretty nice outdoor pool and poolside bar.
This hotel cancelled our reservation because they wanted to charge a deposit hold two days before our arrival which was guaranteed to a credit card through orbitz. We had to rebook onsite and it cost us over $200 more for a two night stay. I am extremely dissatisfied. Orbitz reps tried to call the hotel while I was there and they refused to answer the phone. Extremely unprofessional hotel staff. There were ample rooms available and they should have honored my original reservation rate. Horrible !
It’s smell like humidity, and also the bed sheets needs to be cleaned
I usually stay here for work because it’s located on a very beautiful beach. This time the shower was clogged and I asked to switch rooms. It took a long time for her to get a manager involved and still couldn’t switch me rooms. They sent a maintenance man who said he would have to take it apart so switching would be best. The front desk lady still wouldn’t switch me and an hour went by. She was very rude and pushy and then started questioning my service dog. It was past 9pm so I gave up and said never mind DO NOT SEND ANYONE UP. I fell asleep and the maintenance man entered my room without permission! As a single female this was terrifying and they did NOTHING TO apologize or compensate me. I switched to the one across the street but the all female staff made me feel much safer and friendlier! They loved my dog and even fed him a sausage at their breakfast which Island Resort doesn’t even include.
What’s not to like!?!?!?!
Island resort is perfectly priced and very comfy and clean. It’s near a beautiful warm beach with soft sands. They provide beach towels and plenty of shampoo and conditioner which I appreciate. There’s a cute tiki bar across the street with cheap eats that do the job. You can see sea turtles in the waters
Where to begin… Checking in was an experience on its own. Waited 30 minutes in line to check in was giving the impression I was being checked in only to put a 200 usd hold on my credit card and told not able to check in until after 4:30 pm :( The elevators were unsafe and in deplorable conditions like the rest of the property. They claimed they had just opened but looks no different from when the hurricane destroyed previous property….. :( Deplorable like slumlord conditions. Bar tenders unexperienced and not properly trained. Paid 10 USD for a margarita that was beyond disgusting and intolerable. Paid way too much for a room with an ocean view, and couldn’t even enjoy it because the air conditioning unit above constantly leaked on us below!!! The room was nice but electrical outlets did not work as well has refrigerator did not keep any of our items cold let alone cool during our stay. ☹️ The only positive note about my experience at the deplorable Island Resort was the house keeping staff. They not only went above and beyond, but also had a friendly and professional attitude.
