InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile

Every year, we spend several days downtown with our family, with includes 4 boys. To make sure we have enough beds as well as room for 4 growing boys, we reserved two rooms and requested adjoining rooms. And it was our youngest one's birthday! Upon arrival, the hotel did not have adjoining rooms.. and we continued to try a get a solution, but we were stuck with two separate rooms, albeit right next to each other. It is not terrible, but not what was requested, and not the family connected experience we wanted.... and what it means is making sure our two youngest were with us, and having our older boys by themselves... With one of our boys in the other room getting sick in the middle of the night, getting locked out of his room, and then wandering the halls, this was just salt in the wounds of a difficult night. of course, if we were all connected, we could have limited the discomfort. Thankfully, the staff (asst managers Lukas and Jael) mentioned they would try to improve situation the following day, and they did, we two attaching rooms that had a connecting room in the middle, a perfect situation and very room for us, such that my wife and I had a king size bed in one room, the two little ones could sleep in a pull-out couch in the middle and the two bigger boys had double beds in the other room. It felt like heaven compared to the night before. This helped to turn the vacation around.

Friendly staff .. great restaurant ... Nice rooms ...

Nice and great location! Nice hotel bar, Starbuck's on site. Great!!

This is probably the best pool we’ve used in downtown Chicago. Definitely worth visiting!

I spent four night at this hotel. We had an outstanding room. It was huge (3 windows). The older parts of the hotel are beautiful, and our room was modern, clean, and comfortable. The food in the bar was outstanding, and we hit the Starbucks every morning. When you exit the hotel, you are right in the middle of the "Magnificent Mile". Perfect location for everything I wanted to do. Paula, at the front desk, helped me and gave me great advice on transportation.

We were greeted by several security guards when we arrived as well as a very competent, helpful and friendly receptionist. Our experience on our first day with the Concierge was just OK but she made a wonderful restaurant recommendation where we went several times. She gave us directions to that restaurant which included steep steps perhaps not noting our advanced ages (very tactful) which would have made it impossible for us to reach the restaurant. When I asked the security guard for further directions, he personally took us to the garage elevator which avoided the stairs and was a shorter walk, rode down with us and pointed to the restaurant, even described it so we wouldn't miss it! . Very much appreciated and which accounts for the 5 in our rating of hotel staff. The next time we asked the Concierge a question, another lady, she was extraordinarily knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us a lot of helpful information. We loved our Chicago stay and will definitely recommend it to friends. We already have a family member who is booked for September.

Quick, early check in, beautiful pool, comfortable room, walk to shopping & restaurants

This was my 4th or 5th time at the Intercontinental on Michigan Avenue. The location is phenomenal--right near the river/shopping/restaurants/nightlife/Starbucks adjacent to the Lobby. It's a pretty classy hotel for the most part. The room was a bit small and getting the WiFi was a bit of a pain for my wife trying to connect to it but otherwise great place to stay at. I caught a good price due to the time of year as well--which never hurts.

Great location for food, shopping, and entertainment. Friendly staff at reception desk with excellent recommendations provided by concierge desk. Clean, spacious, and comfortable rooms.

A pleasant experience. Nice hotel. My only suggestion is that the hallway carpets need to be replaced. During my stay the room next door had a problem with either the faucet or drainage as water flooded out below the door to the hallway.

They charge for WiFi and exercising. Trying to soak you for money. Wouldn't stay there again.

This room was clean & had a nice view of Michigan Ave. However, 2 beds does not mean 2 queen size beds... These are only full beds. So for 3-4 people this is a little tight. Otherwise, very pleasant staff and great location!

Weight sensors in every corner of the room attempting to charge you. Our fridge was completely full of unwanted allcohol when we got there leaving zero room for personal use. Woke up to a $15 dollar bill under the door because one the cheap beers shifted off or its weight sensor. Pool is not functioning yet advertised. Wifi costs extra. Still searching for an explanation to an extra $46 I was billed after my stay. One night of constant expenses.

Discounted rates come up and this is an great hotel for the money! Jordons crab cake is amazing...... Staff helpful and friendly. Only negative is room sizes very and often long line for check-in on weekends. Always enjoy our stay.

Staff and service were excellent. Will definitely stay here again when in Chicago! Location is perfect and cost is of good value.

Was not in town long but the experience could not have been better.

This trip was beyond my expectations! I had an amazing time in and outside of the hotel! The room was clean, the staff was helpful and pleasant, the restaurant was delicious both breakfast and dinner! Amazing amazing amazing!

Clean, great location and amenities ....,,,.............................................,,. Loved it

The hotel was very nice great location, and Michael Jordan Steakhouse was yummy!

Staff was curt, flippant when pressed for real answers to my concerns. Tv remote didn't work 2 times . Had a very bad experience with concierge desk. Bought tickets, didn't arrive as promised, had to sit in Lobby 2 hours , missed lunch with friends . Called hotel manager, got left on hold twice for 5-6 minutes until someone answered.
