* they charge extra $15 for parking per day. * rooms are not sound proof. * noise from the tram, from airport, from car racers using the street at night, from police chasing car racers at night, from slamming doors by other residents arriving late night. * rooms have fire sprinklers which water pipes produce clicking noises all day. * rooms are dark with very limited lights. * there is no stand for luggage. * bath tub has no anti-slip-n-fall anything.

No free breakfast- no free parking, too expensive!
For my experience as a remote worker this hotel ended up been too expensive for me, parking is 17 dollars a night, I believe it should be free when you spend so much money in 4 nights hotel, they are not lacking of parking spots. It also does not have breakfast included which was another 18 dollars per person. Laundry was 3 dollars the washer and 3 for the dryer, not the normal 1.75 anywhere else. Oh and there is no maid every day , if you need something you need to call and ask. The hotel is nice, just expensive. Make your math if you come with family so you wouldn’t be surprised when you receive the bill under the door.

Convenient in downtown SJC
The HI-San Jose-Silicon Valley is a few minutes from the San Jose Airport. There is a light-rail line station (Gish) directly in front of the HI. If you have business downtown, for example the San Jose Convention Center, taking the light rail line is fast, convenient and inexpensive. The HI is a standard business hotel. It is clean, everything worked, the staff is friendly, the internet was fine and the room was quiet. There is a little self-service snack-shop in the lobby. There are also restaurants that I did not sample. All that said, the local neighborhood did not strike me as being particularly safe. The police were at the hotel when I checked in, and two police cars were at the hotel in the morning. A private guard wanders the lobby in the evening. There are several boarded up motels within a few blocks. There are few restaurants within walking distance and there is a convenience store across the street. So there is no need to take idle walks. The property is surrounded by a fence, and I took my morning job running circles around the hotel on the hotel side of the fence.
