Before you call airlines looking for flights from Washington, DC, you should check with Orbitz.com. The two major airports in DC are Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Alaska Airlines, US Airways, and Frontier Airlines handle domestic flights from Ronald Reagan, while Virgin America, ExpressJet Airlines, and Colgan Air operate out of Washington Dulles. Ronald Reagan is only three miles from the downtown area, and Washington Dulles is 26 miles from downtown.
The five parking lots at Ronald Reagan offer daily and hourly parking rates, and the airport charges $20 per day for parking in the long-term lots. The economy lot only charges $12 per day, but this lot is open and uncovered. Washington Dulles has two long-term parking lots that charge $17 per day and one economy lot that charges $10 per day. For $30, you can use valet parking.
The Metrorail and Metrobus make at least one stop at each airport every day. The stops are clearly marked around the city, and you can find maps that help you find the correct line. Taxis are not as low cost as the public transportation options because the drivers charge a pickup fee, baggage fee, fee per mile, and a fee for any time that the driver must wait.
Both airports offer a range of dining options. Washington Dulles is home to Dulles to Go, Five Guys, Subway, and Wendy's, while Ronald Reagan has Dunkin' Donuts, Euro Cafe, and Jerry's Subs & Pizza. Once you have something to eat, you can browse through the sales at some of the shops surrounding the restaurants. If you want to enjoy your vacation, use Orbitz.com to look for flights from Washington DC.
Hamburg is one of the larger transportation hubs in Germany, with Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport doing its part to provide passenger and cargo air services for the region. The airport is located only 5.3 miles from the city center and transports nearly 13 million passengers yearly. Flights to Hamburg are provided by airlines such as Aeroflot, Air Berlin, British Airways, Czech Airlines and United Airlines. Reservations can often be found at bargain prices on Orbitz.com.
Transport from the airport to the city center is provided by the Hamburg public transit network, with trains running every 10 minutes. The journey by train takes 25 minutes. Bus service is also available to the city for a cost of $3.50. Metered taxis can be hired as well, and fares begin at a base price of $3.50. Taxis can be hired from the arrivals level at the front of the airport terminals.
Hamburg's weather is cool to cold throughout the year, though it rarely experiences snowfall. During the summer, average highs reach the low 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with winter temperatures averaging in the 30s. Dress during the warmer months should include a light jacket, while winter weather necessitates the wearing of a heavy coat to handle the chill.
Sports are a big attraction in the city, and Hamburg possesses more first-league teams than any other city in Germany. Hamburger SV is a football team playing in the Bundesliga league. As a former German champion, the team attracts a stadium full of spectators, with over 50,000 people attending each game. Those booking flights to Hamburg may also be interested in setting off on a cruise aboard the Queen Mary 2, which docks in the city regularly.
