Loved our cabin and the privacy. We had lots of space and enjoyed watching the river and its clear water. The town was quaint and e enjoyed visiting our friends in the area. There are deer, jackrabbits and turkeys roaming wild all over. It was a treat to say the least! We enjoyed the Lost Maples Cafe and the Lunchbox inside the General Store

This was our first cabin getaway. My wife, two dogs, and myself were going to enjoy our very first hike @LostMaplesStateArea. Utopia itself, is a quaint and all around friendly town. The Utopia River Retreat went above and beyond our expectations. Amazing views of color changing foliage, and right by the Sibinal River. I will definitely be back and with y family too. AMAZING place to stay and short distances away are some great National Parks.

Wonderful Weekend

The cabin had everything we needed in the kitchen and the restroom. Both rooms were well kept with king size beds. The area was also wonderful and only a short drive to Garner State Park.

Utopia on the creek

The reason we booked this location was because it was on the river. Not what we were expecting. No swimming access so we had to drive 30 minutes away. There was a plumbing issue with the tub but was very pleased with the hospitality. Breakfast was delicious!

Perfect family getaway

This was a beautiful bed and breakfast with amazing view and even river access! My husband and I went with our 3 children and we all absolutely loved it. The staff were welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here again!

Fantastic find! Totally enjoyed our stay. I was with my grand daughter and we snorkeled in the river and had a grand time. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was great. Had a very enjoyable time. Already planning another trip here.

Quiet, restful and remarkable!

Utopia on the River was a wonderful and restful getaway. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. Cheryl was a lovely host who greeted us upon check-in and made us feel a part of the family. The section of the Sabinal river which runs through the property was absolutely pristine - what beautiful scenery.

Beautiful place!

My parents and I stayed here on a motorcycle trip and loved it! Beautiful river, woods, fireflies, great breakfast in a neat lodge area and very nice rooms. The pool was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were deer coming to the feeder and a lot of hummingbirds - just a lovely place. We will definitely be back!

Romantic getaway

The staff is friendly and accommodating. Once you check in, they know you on a first name basis. The homemade breakfast was awesome, best grits I have had in years. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is tucked away in the woods with lots of deer which was nice to look at.

Overnight stay in Utopia, Garner State park

This was an overnight stay with me and my teenage daughters. This is a charming hotel located off the beaten track in the middle of a nature preserve. There are an astounding number of deer roaming the property and hummingbird feeders all around the hotel. The owners greet you like family and treat you with amazing courtesy. The rooms were very clean, cozy, and well appointed with hardwood floors. Breakfast was a hot, delicious "home cooked" meal. After one of my daughters left a necklace, they were generous enough to mail it back to our home. The only negative I have to say (and it's not the hotels' fault) was that there was no cell service for Sprint and Verizon in the area (apparently AT&T is the only show in town). If you want peace and quiet and a relaxing stay, this is the place for you. I will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.

Relaxing and Peaceful Stay

We really enjoyed our family stay at Utopia on the River. Cheryl, Mac and the rest of the staff were very friendly and hospitable, the food was great and the property was beautiful. It's a very quiet and peaceful place to stay if you want to get away from it all. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub under the huge trees and stars in the evenings, and both Lost Maples State Park and Garner State Park are very close by. We definitely recommend Utopia on the River!

Wonderful accommodation

My wife & I greatly enjoyed our 2 nights stayed. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They treated like you are a member of their family. The breakfast was excellent home cooking. We will stay here again at our next visit in the area.

Quiet hotel tucked away in the hill country.

The room was very nice it looked to be freshly remodeled, or very well taken care of. I loved watching the deer come to the feeder twice a day, I stopped counting after 35!
