This was a spectacular visit to the OBX! The house was clean and beautiful all around. The coffee/tea bar was exquisite and the hot tub was lovely after a long day of fun/physical recreation. Our hosts were attentive, kind, and resourceful. Their communication was top notch! We couldn’t be happier. We recommend this vacation home to anyone. Hope to be back and visit again in the near future!

Overall impression was great! The location was perfect, off the main highway but, close enough that you could walk to shops and restaurants. Beach location and access was great! I appreciate the fact the toilet paper, trash bags, shampoo and conditioner, were available! Coffee and creamer along with teas made it easy! You had what you needed to make your stay simple with a true vacay feel! Only gripe was being watched on outside cameras, although I understand the need for protecting your investment it felt like you were being watched every time you entered or exited the home. Overall the host was great at communicating and sent numerous notifications of reminders for trash, cleaning and timing! Kept us on our toes with everything!

Great house, great location and easy to work with host. House is clean, well stocked in the kitchen (lots of dishes, pot, pans),bath (plenty of towels) and with plenty of extras bikes, beach chairs and games. Beach is right across the street and pool is steps from your front door. Have rented units all over OBX, Florida and in Europe this rates well above the rest.

Amazing property and location!

This home is just as advertised and the owners thought of every detail! This is the best VRBO rental we have ever stayed in! Communication with the owner is exceptional and the location is perfect between the north and south parts of the Can't wait to come back!

Beautiful Outerbanks Home

Our family had an amazing time! The house provides everything that we could have needed. The hosts are very attentive and provide a lot of information about the area. The house was spotless and just steps from the beach. We enjoyed the hot tub, the porch swing and all of the decks. We’d come back again in a heart beat.

Best VRBO I've encountered

This vacation was a last minute trip for my family and I'm so glad we selected this property. The property was extremely clean and better in person than in photos. The house was fully stocked with items I wasn't expecting - - coffee, tea, robes, slippers, etc. The host was extremely responsive to questions as well as being proactive in terms of what to expect upon check in, what to do upon check-out, local hot spot recommendations, etc. I'd give this property an 11 out of 10. Fantastic!

Perfect Beach House

We enjoyed staying at this home. It had everything we needed and was quite close to the beach. We stayed too early in the season for the pool but the hot tub was great. There are plenty of space, beds and everything was new and comfortable. There was coffee and tea available with creamer pods and such. We definitely recommend this property.

Perfect for a family trip

This house was very comfortable for my family of 7. Everything was clean, the beds are great, and so many little extras like shampoo, trash bags, cooking oil etc. made it easier for us. We have stayed at rentals that don't supply even one trash bag. We loved all the outdoor spaces and the location is close to both the beach and the shopping areas. We were blessed with sun and great weather despite coming during the winter. We would definitely return if future travels bring us to the outer banks.

Super Location and Amenities

Property is as advertised. One reason we splurged on this place is because it was so comfortable and well appointed. Since it ended up raining 9/10 days (which did NOT ruin our fun), this investment paid off as we spent a lot more time inside than expected. Large living areas with a well-stocked kitchen. Location and hot tub were major pluses...also loved the sunset from the gazebo on the sound and the great proximal restaurants.

Great stay and perfect location

We had a fantastic trip, with the only downside being too short. Next time we’ll plan to stay longer. Communication was A+, location was perfect, and the common area pool was perfect for the days you want a quick dip without heading to the beach. Highly recommend and we’ll be back!

OBX Gem

What a great house and location. Check in was seamless. House was very clean. Pool was clean and enjoyed by the kids. And a fantastic beach is just across the street. We had a great stay and enjoyed the house, many porches, excellent amenities, beach toys, etc. Jose was very responsive. We look forward to returning.

Whale House

We had a marvelous time at the Whale House. The house was well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Particularly popular were the hot tub, cornhole and the pool. Great beds, plenty of beach towels and easy access to the beach. Thanks to Jose, who was responsive to questions and provided useful information about the area.

Perfect Family Getaway

This was our first time in the Outer Banks. This home exceeded our expectations! When we first got there, we noticed how clean everything was. The location was perfect. Just steps away from the beach and the pool. This house was fully loaded with games, bikes, sand toys, beach chairs, and umbrella. It was nice not having to pack all of those much-needed necessities and travel with them. My family all said that I did a GREAT job picking this year's destination. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for allowing our family to spend a week in your beautiful cottage!

OBX Beach Retreat

Jose and Jennifer’s Whale Cottage offered a pleasant and relaxing beach vacation for our family. Walking distance to white sandy beach, clean and well kept beach accessories to borrow, bikes to explore with and a pool & hot tub for the cooler days. The house has a kid friendly layout, super clean and well kept, multiple laundry units, fully stocked kitchen with all the utensils you need to cook and clean. The host’s are very accommodating, responsive, let us check in early and offered for us to extend our trip (which we did). The Whale cottage is a perfect place for families to come and enjoy all of what OBX has to offer!!

The perfect winter getaway!

We were looking for the perfect winter getaway for a long weekend, and we found it! The Whale’s Cottage is beautiful, even bigger and brighter and nicer than the pictures. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you could ever want (we especially enjoyed the waffle maker). It was a super cold weekend, but the heater worked great and we appreciated the extra blankets. And for the days when the weather was awful, we enjoyed the foosball table, arcade, plethora of board games, and cooking tools. The house felt like a home, not a rental. The hosts are so helpful and kind, too. I imagine this house is terrific in the summer, with its proximity to the beach and Jockey’s Ridge and community pool. But it really shines as a winter getaway when you need a quick escape from the dreariness of January! The home was loved by children and adults alike.

Nags Head Christmas 2023

The Whale Cottage exceeded all of our expectations! Upon arrival we were surprised with the generous welcome gift and immediately noticed that the home was in tip-top shape. The two large master suites provided ample privacy for our group. I loved the game room with the vintage arcade game and foosball table. Who knew Frogger was so difficult ... lol. When the weather was agreeable we made our way to the beach which is only 1-2 minute walk. The cottage is conveniently located to many attractions, grocery store and hospital. I would give this place six stars but there are only five.
