Inside was clean and well maintained. Host was attentive before and during our trip. Unforeseen issues happened outside of their control and they were proactive and transparent about it. Overall, it met our needs and made for a fun weekend at Okoboji!

Best quiet get away around!

Everything at this property was as described and amazing. I appreciated the host’s communication as well. We enjoyed the quiet mornings and evenings on the deck. Had a great time kayaking and fishing from the deck too. So much wildlife on daily walks (geese, deer, bunnies, squirrels, and delightful birds). We enjoyed a couple of nights with s’mores by the fire pit. The accommodations inside were as inviting as the outdoor amenities. So great to have a washer and dryer right on property. The kitchen was fully furnished. If all that wasn’t enough - it was the BEST location in the Okoboji area. Close to beach area and all the attractions without them being out the front door. Also very close to Cutty’s to visit family camping. Couldn’t have found a more perfect get away.

Beautiful, Relaxing and Clean

Beautiful, relaxing and clean property. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle board in the canal and sitting by a bon fire in the evening. The canal is peaceful and quiet and our hosts answered questions very quickly. We all hand a wonderful time!

Great vacation

We had a wonderful time on our fishing trip. The house was so clean and it had everything you need. The beds were comfortable which is always a plus for us!! I would not hesitate to stay there again! We had no problems communicating with the owner of the property! She checked in with us to make sure everything was okay. Overall it was great. Anyone needing a place to stay around Lake Okoboji should rent this in a heartbeat!!!

Relaxing

The place was nice and relaxing. The fishing wasn't to bad either. We took our boat and everything was safe and sound as we left it hooked to the dock. Friendly people in the area and great places to eat.

Beautiful spot!

The house was newly renovated and very homey. Looking onto the canal was so relaxing. Owner communicated with us very proactively. We will definitely be back in the summer!

Cozy and quiet

Great place to stay! Very clean and comfortable. Many hiking and biking trails close by, and great kayaking. The host was very attentive and even delivered to us an item we were missing. I highly recommend Take A Break Holiday Rentals!

Take A Break Holiday Rentals Okoboji

We spent the weekend in the fall at the Take A Break Holiday Rentals in Okoboji. Had an amazing time. It was a great place to stay, and we will definitely return. It works great for us as our aunt and uncle live 3 doors down. Sat around a campfire both nights and rode bikes during the day. Very relaxing.

August in Okoboji

We come yearly to Okoboji and this is the first time we rented a house, usually do a condo. Good location on canala and nice outdoor space. Able to paddle board and kayak and enjoy a lovely house. Grill was very nice. Unfortunately the weather was extreme hot but nice breeze on the water. Spent more time at indoor activities. Enough room for 5 adults in the home. Hope to return next year!

Long weekend getaway

The property was amazing! Kim was so easy to keep in touch with and ask questions when needed. It is centrally located and very easy to get just about anywhere around Milford, including Okoboji and Spirit Lake. We had the most 2 perfect weather days so that helped of course but the property was very comfortable and well stocked. Beautiful outside sitting area where we enjoyed breakfast. We didn't get a chance to use the kayaks and/or paddleboard but checked them out in the garage and they looked great! A great stay for a much needed vacation! Thank you Kim and Barry!

Wonderful Getaway

Had a friends getaway and we all loved this place. It is exactly as shown but even better in person. Very clean and has everything you need and great communication with the hosts. Loved how quiet it was there and great to walk around and next time we are looking for better weather to get on the lake! We will be going again!

G'Day Mate

We really enjoyed our week long stay at this well appointed Aussie themed cottage. We found the cottage to be very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was very well stocked, and my wife especially enjoyed the Nespresso Essenza Mini. The pods were also provided. We were greeted by a unique welcome basket with a small bottle of wine and some treats. The bedrooms were large and we found the master bedroom to be very comfortable and inviting. The kitchen was well laid out with a large island that we enjoyed using for meal preparation. The location is conveniently located to the lake with a large boat launching ramp less than 2 miles away. We would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Lovely canal cottage

Cottage has been nicely renovated, was very clean, had comfortable beds, and was well-stocked and supplied. Love the handy location on the canal with access to West Okoboji and a quiet, calm place to dock boat. Would definitely rent again.

My husband and I stayed at this property for our anniversary weekend. Each year we go on an adventure to somewhere new, I’m so glad I found Okoboji and this place! Kim is a fantastic communicator, the house had everything we needed for breakfast before heading out to The lake all day. It feels like the Cape Coral of Iowa! Can’t wait to come back with our kids!!
