This property is a gem and a very unique experience! You are welcomed with Aloha and immediately feel part of the Ohana. Chad and Jennifer have worked hard to create a 5 acre paradise that you have the privilege to enjoy. Two horses, chickens, ducks and dogs are part of the extended family. The tropical landscape is beautifully maintained with fruit trees and exotic plants. I never tired of smelling the gardenia lined entrance that led to our studio suite. For two weeks we had the Solar suite, a two room studio suite; living(sofa bed), dining, queen size bed in one room with two walls of windows overlooking the ocean. The other room was a combination kitchenette equipped with all we needed to prepare light/easy meals and the well appointed bathroom dressing area with rain head shower and bidet toilet. Falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean and waking to the sunrise was a daily pleasure. It was a housekeeping type of arrangement (we made our own beds and kept the kitchen tidy). Half way through our stay Hale Laulea provided clean linens and a room refresh. I think HL would have done laundry if requested but there was no laundry facilities for self service. We did hand wash what we needed but being a tropical climate it took a couple of days for our laundry to dry. I would suggest if your arrival schedule permits and you are staying in the Solar Suite that you stop and stock up on basic groceries before arrival as the nearest grocery store is 10-15 miles away.

Our Hawaii trip for my husband’s birthday and vow renewal was ruined by “Hale Laule’a at Opi Point” on VRBO. Promised hot tub, washer/dryer, AC, and privacy were a total bait-and-switch.Host demanded a 2-hour tour ignoring our schedules, added surprise double resort fees (VRBO refunded), forbade nighttime AC, sealed windows shut, and invaded our privacy at 6:40am outside our bedroom.No direct laundry access—just paid service (refunded); hot tub “by request” 8-10pm but denied even on birthday. Electrical hazards: burning smells met with rudeness, crashing light fixture with exposed wires unfixed.Host offered refund for last days to “part as friends,” then lied to VRBO (texts prove it). We fled early from the stress, not weather. Volcano B&B saved us with real Aloha and a working hot tub.As someone with Hawaiian roots, I regret this spot—the beauty outside masks zero peace inside. Skip it for events or relaxation; the hassle stole our paradise time. VRBO helped financially, but not enough.

We really enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous property. The views were nothing short of spectacular! Great location for exploring the windward side of the Island!Chad and Jennifer were great hosts! They were available if we needed something, but also let us have our privacy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Everything was perfect! The welcome tour by Chad was great! He told us about the area and the land. They have a beautiful, peaceful property! The rain over night was so fun to listen to and the sounds of the ocean are awesome! The sunrise was different everyday and so beautiful! My daughter (17) and I were here for 4 days. We felt the apartment had everything we needed. It was so nice to have a little kitchen so we could just be there and relax and not feel the need to go out. We would definitely love to stay here again and would recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for a quiet getaway. It was perfect!

We were looking for somewhere peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle… this was a great escape. Everything we needed… pool, spa, peaceful gardens, sunrise views (though I may have learned I am a sunset person) sunrises are beautiful… but they are bright! The property is as described, Chad’s orientation is an education on the property and history of the islands - he knows what he’s doing. He inspired us to get out and explore the island…. We did. We were looking for a place to regroup after some rough medical news, so we were not as social as we usually are, but we felt welcomed and the hospitality (and privacy) was top notch. I have a touch of OCD when it comes to wrinkles and Jennifer was accommodating in my request for an iron - yes, I am aware people do not iron anymore… it is me and my problem. A true judge free zone. :)I was able to spend a morning walking the property alone and take on the awe inspiring grounds - it truely an Eden! Book without worry. Hope to return one day.

amazingly beautiful place

The property is right in front of the ocean and (if you like to wake up early) you can enjoy amazing sunrises. The apartment we rented was quiet, spotless, had a great shower, and was equipped with everything we needed to cook and brew Italian coffee in the morning with our espresso moka from Italy ;-). Chad and Jennifer are gracious hosts. They have three very friendly dogs, as well as horses, chickens, and ducks. And their mangos are incredibly sweet and juicy!We definitely recommend a stay here — and we might be back ourselves!

Peaceful Accommodation 13 Miles from Hilo

The accommodation was as the extensive description stated. Chad is a very enthusiastic and complete host! His welcome, though in part required, was expanded into an enjoyable, educational event in itself! The grounds are peaceful, the pool welcomed, the furnishings comfortable, and the technology capable. For the most part, a vehicle is required. However, this property could serve as a short sequestered personal retreat site if one brings in food. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
