Lovely home, but...

Hard review to write. The home and property surrounding are lovely. But... First, home is listed as having 2 queen bedrooms. Beds are full size, not queen, which matters when one of your party is 6'3" and 230 LBS. Second, every pan and dish we took out to cook with was dirty. Has to be washed, and some had to be scrubbed. Some were beyond scrubbing. We had to buy a new frying pan to make scrambled eggs bc all the pans had had the non-stick coatings worn off from being put in the dishwasher. To boot, the kitchen was a disorganized mess. The cupboards had pots/pans/dishes crammed into them so opening the door was like a late round of Jenga. Old food and staples left in the cupboards anove. I thru 4-5 things out that we're expired - there's lots more.Ice maker hadn't been cleared for about 3-4 weeks. The bottom 4" of ice cubes were freezer burned. When we arrived, the water filter in the fridge dispenser had a gleaming red "replace me" light on. Dock is pretty wobbly and sinking on one end. Management company kept telling me to send them pics of things. How about, instead, you train and supervise your cleaning teams properly? 'Cause my pics aren't fixing things for our stay. Like I said, house and grounds are lovely. Just not managed to the standard of a home like that.

Stunning setting and beautiful home

We loved our stay. The setting is spectacular right on a pond with complete privacy yet so close to town. The host was warm and welcoming. The home was not only artistically designed but provided for all our needs. We are looking forward to returning for a fall foliage getaway.

Pond-side retreat

Perfect for a family vacation with a baby and dog. Particularly enjoyed having drinks and dinner on the deck, overlooking the water. Felt like a private retreat.

Cozy, relaxing retreat

It's a really lovely home on a beautiful property, with all the amenities we could have possibly needed, and also perfectly peaceful. The host was so welcoming and responsive, which made it that much nicer, too. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer, and I would definitely want to stay there again.

Great place for Thanksgiving!

This is a great house! It is the only house on this part of the lake, so it was perfectly quiet. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed, so cooking a complete thanksgiving dinner was no problem. We will definitely consider returning!

Berkshires Bliss

This was our third stay at this property. The water view is lovely. Location is excellent for hiking or skiing at nearby Butternut and Catamount. The town of great Barrington is charming. We kayaked on the pond right from the property. Fabulous.

Idyllic location, charming property

This is one of the most picturesque locations I have ever visited! The house is charming. Some elements are in need of a freshening, but my only significant disappointment was that the place could have been kept a little cleaner. I blame housekeeping for failing to check on lightbulbs and loose towel racks and keeping carpets and kitchen mats clean. My wife found the hairdryer supplied to be best suited for a Barbie doll rather than an adult. But the overall experience we had was a delightful break from the city, in a beautiful, serene environment.

Shangri-la

Such a peaceful place. Outdoor activities for some, or just enjoy the view from the deck up in the canopy of the trees. Never have to worry about rainy day due to so many choices of cultural, food and niche places in the area. Had an issue, but owner was so quick to respond and accessible. Truly Shangri-la!

Lovely Home & Pond

My family loved our stayed at this lovely pond gem! The view of the pond and natural beauty of the area was enjoyed from the large windows, the deck, screened in porch and dock side. The rainy forecast didn’t deter us from having a wonderful time! Everyone slept soundly listening to the birds and toads, too.

Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful

My husband's first words upon checking in were, "You can feel the quiet." The location of this property, on Long Pond, is glorious. One can neither see nor hear another home or person from anywhere on the property. Our favorite element is the view of the very beautiful Long Pond. Even in the cool weather, I enjoyed sitting down on the dock watching and listening to the wildlife. Cooking is important to us. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked, making cooking easy and comfortable. The host is hands on and personable in the best way. My medical needs were generously tended to. My husband and I love this property. We will certainly return.

Quiet, comfort, convenience in a unique home

This home has a wonderful unique set of architectural features helping make for a very comfortable and interesting stay. The location is a magic combination of a beautiful very quiet natural setting and easy access to all the shops, museums, and natural features of the Berkshires. The three of us give it a unanimous and enthusiastic "thumbs up".

Absolutely beautiful location

The house is located on a beautiful property, with lots of trees and a lake - peaceful and gorgeous sunsets! Positives: Location- close to downtown Great Barrington Lots of space in the house Both a deck and a screened in porch All sorts of kitchen pots and pans, etc Opportunities The driveway is STEEP - it's just a little shocking, so you should be aware The TV doesn't really have any apps loaded - bring your own laptop and you can stream using an HDMI cable that is present there Thank you!!!

Tranquil oasis

We had long admired this house from previous visits to the area, but we were not prepared for how beautiful and quiet the location was. We loved sitting on the deck or the dock to take in the lovely mountain and pond views, especially at sunset. The house was very comfortable for 4, though as we were warned, it’s a little damp on the ground floor. There are many places in the house where you can be away from other guests if you’d like. The location is close to all the Berkshire towns yet you feel like you’re very far away from the tourist traffic and noise. The house is in walking distance to the Pfeiffer Arboretum, and Long Pond Rd. is nice to walk on, too. It’s a one of a kind house and location, and we look forward to returning.

Wonderful Stay on the Pond

This is a quiet, peaceful and spectacularly designed property with beautiful views. We enjoyed our time dining and reading on the deck, observing the pond wildlife, and being on the water. The rowboat was great fun. The house was very clean., the kitchen well equipped and up to date, the bathrooms clean and the showers excellent. The bedrooms are comfortable. (Note: a prior reviewer had an issue with the mattress in the master bedroom. We disagree. We found it very comfortable and slept very well each night!) The hosts were totally responsive. All needs were addressed quickly. For example, when we mentioned new oars might be something to consider in the future, they were immediately ordered and arrived within a day or so. We will definitely book again.

Love the area gave a "C" for cottage

1.very steep driveway for a truck/cab and alternative parking spot on the shoulder of the road and could not see vehicle from the house. did inquire ahead about the driveway and the owners claimed it was'nt bad._it was like a ski slope!!! 2. all the furniture in the house was uncomfortable including the bedding! I was doing squats to sit on the sectional! I thought I read that the master bedroom was done over, not the bedding! I sat at the kitchen table most of the time . 3.there were 6 remotes for the TV- we could not figure which was which!?! the pluses are great master shower with a rain shower head, nice kitchen and supplies,nice back yard vista and great location! Unfortunately we left a day early because we were not sleeping well.

Truly a Magical Place

This house is gorgeous! While the photos are accurate, they do not do justice to the first views of the house as you approach. It was large enough for all of our three-generational family to have their own space and enjoy. There are wooded paths to explore, a dock to sit on, a screened porch for a nap, a deck for outdoor meals and private bedrooms. It was immaculately cleaned and furnished with interesting art and spectacular views of the countryside. It is close to all of the Berkshire attractions that we wanted to see - Tanglewood, Lenox, Stockbridge and Great Barrington are all minutes away. We are truly grateful that we found this amazing home and have come back with a treasure trove of new family memories to enjoy. Thank you!
