This is a wonderful property, but our visit was marred by a misrepresentation in the VRBO listing. That listing specifically listed air conditioning as one of the amenities.
Our stay came during one of the hottest days on record for the area, and after our drive over Trail Ridge Road, we were tired, and really looking forward to napping in a nice cool environment before heading out for dinner.
Upon arrival, we were very disappointed to find the temperature in the unit at 80 degrees, and no air conditioning option on the thermostat. Not even a fan option. Not only was the outside air hot that day, but the blinds had been closed in the tilted down position, allowing hot sun to shine into the unit, further heating it.
I communicated with the owner, and after I pointed out that air conditioning was specifically listed on the VRBO site, his response was, "Okay I apologize as most mountain homes are heat only systems because it still drops into the 30s and 40s at night."
I have travelled and stayed in the mountains for decades. I know most properties don't have air conditioning. I know how to properly manage opening and closing windows and blinds to keep a building comfortable all day long, even during the hottest time.
That of course, completely misses the point. Air conditioning was promised in writing, it was part of what I paid for (handsomely, once you add in all the fees), and it was not provided. It is a clear breach of contract.
