The property was very quirky, lots of space and good amenities. However there were a few things that need attention. The gates are falling off the hinges, one bedroom's ceiling fan didn't work,another the light didn't work. The window in the main upstairs bathroom was shattered with the decal coming off, the front porch swing was also broken.
We asked if it was possible to check in early (around 2pm instead of 4pm) and were advised that the house had not been cleaned yet and we could pay an additional $75 to get the cleaners out early. We didn't bother as we decided to go for a late lunch instead. However when we arrived at the property (around 4.30pm) the downstairs smoke alarm was giving out the low battery signal - a beep every 30 seconds and a low battery voice message every 2-3 minutes. I found it strange that the cleaners had not reported this considering they were meant to have been out that afternoon! However, they did get the groundstaff out and it was fixed the following morning.
This aside the house was very nice, and in a good area, walking distance to cafes and to the beach.
After checking out I received an email regarding the damaged bathroom window as apparently the ground staff/cleaners had not reported this. I advised that it was like that and reported the additional issues. I was thanked for replying but between that and the additional fee for early entry I felt it was more of a money grab and not the customer service received from previous VRBO stays
