Welcome to 77 Sandbar Lane! This cozy beach home offers relaxation for the entire family. Conveniently located walking distance from downtown Folly Beach and close to beach access, this vacation rental is perfect for making memories that'll last a lifetime. All bedrooms have bathroom access. You won't want to miss out on the breezy beach days and rich history Folly Beach and Charleston has to offer!
The home features a fully stocked kitchen with everything needed to prepare delicious meals. Gather together in the formal dining room for special occasions, and a large screened in porch with plenty of seating for the whole group. 3 of the 4 bedrooms come equipped with a queen bed, 4th bedroom has a double bed, and all bedrooms have direct bathroom access. Fresh linens and towel sets are provided for the maximum occupancy of the home.
The exterior of the house includes a covered porch out front and fully screened in porch on the back. Relax in a rocking chair and enjoy the fresh air with views of palmetto trees and the surrounding tropical climate. Rinse off under the outdoor shower after a day of fun in the sun then cook your daily catch on the gas grill. Walk to the public beach access, only 0.6 miles away.
There is parking for 4 vehicles in the driveway. Additional vehicles must find off-street parking where available and follow the City of Folly Beach rules. Uber and Lyft are very scarce on the island, please plan your transportation accordingly. Check-in is at 4:00pm and check out is at 10:00am.
Center Street is just 0.4 miles away, to wander through shops and explore restaurants. Take a walk down or fish from the second longest fishing pier on the east coast, the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. Bike to the far east end of Folly, down E. Ashley Ave, to the ¼ mile walking path leading to the picturesque beach to take in the serene view of Morris Island Lighthouse. The farthest point at the west of the island has the Folly Beach County Park and more manned lifeguard stations. Several local tour companies offer paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and shelling tours, sunset cruises for dolphin watching, as well as surfing lessons.
Historic downtown Charleston is a mere 25-minute drive away. Neighboring towns of James Island, Johns Island, Mount Pleasant, Isle Of Palms, & Wild Dunes all have something special to offer, whether you are a foodie, into golf, historic sites, or craft brews. Golfing is a popular pass time in the Lowcountry, so you can find several nearby at Stono Ferry, Patriot's Point Links, James Island Community Course, and world-class courses on Kiawah Island.
House is equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, washer/dryer, $250 beach gear credit, keyless entry, and starter amenity kits for bathrooms and kitchen guests replenish as needed. Sorry, but we do not allow pets or smoking at the property or anywhere near the property. Must be 25 years old or older to rent. Absolutely NO house parties, youth groups, fraternities, sororities, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc. allowed in the home. Located in a residential neighborhood with a noise ordinance. The 4 bedrooms and 3 baths were perfect to ensure we all had or own space and some privacy. The location was great too-close enough to everything to walk but far enough removed. 2 complaints: No extra blankets (and we got cold a few nights), and we had to buy our own toilet paper and paper towels when we ran out. Could be fantastic, but needs maintenance
The house is in a good location, about a 10 minute walk from the main thoroughfare where all the restaurants and shops are, it's also a short walk to the beach.
There is a nice sunset view from the back porch.
The house was nice and clean, and we were happy to see the "starter packs" that were provided. That was a nice touch.
Unfortunately, the property is let down by a lack of maintenance/investment. Little things that need updated, which add up. Some examples:
Only one chefs knife in kitchen, and it had a broken tip. There were also no dessert spoons
Screen on back porch needed repairs
Chair on back porch had a broken seat. Table looked like it could fall apart at any moment
Tree which needs pruned is blocking the great sunset view.
Doors are hard to close properly.
It just seems that no ongoing maintenance has been done to the property, which is a shame, because the "bones" of the house are beautiful.
