Need a Car For After Your Flight?

There are many international airports servicing flights to China. China has roughly 500 airports with a sizable portion being used for international flights. The award winning Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), situated 17 miles from the city centre, is the largest and busiest and is rated one of the best airports in the world. Total passenger traffic comes close to 80 million people a year. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) wrestle for second place for flights to China, while the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) are also heavily used. Transportation from the airport is available with car, coach, or bus being the most common forms to and from flights to China

China Weather

China is vast and there is extreme climate variation in different locations ranging from desert to grasslands to tropical. Temperature also varies greatly, from 40-below in the north to 104 degrees in the south. Traveling on flights to China is good all year round but research on the weather is essential and if travel is to be involved then preparation for changing weather from location to location is advised. Visit Harbin in winter for its ice festival and ski slopes and Beijing and Shanghai in summer. May, September, and October are peak season but prices drop in other months so it is possible to get a good deal on low cost flights to China.

Getting Around China

China has a highly efficient transport system which means there are various transportation methods available. If you plan to travel across the length of China, then the sheer size may make air travel the only viable option. With domestic airports scattered everywhere, air travel is a piece of cake. Otherwise, trains are the most common option, although they do tend to get crowded. Alternatives include buses and trams, the underground in certain cities, boats, and for the adventurous: bicycles. In general, the transportation system is reliable, frequent, comfortable and efficient, making travel in domestic China relatively easy and enjoyable.

China Attractions

With its imperial history and modern development, China is host to a bevy of attractions to suit every taste. China is one of the most culturally vibrant places on earth with amazing art, festivals, and people.

  • The Great Wall of China: seen from space and famous throughout the world
  • The Forbidden City: once home to the emperors of China
  • Silk Road: retrace the steps of some of the world’s greatest explorers such as Marco Polo.
  • Terracotta Warriors: the museum of the Terracotta Army is home to life-like stone soldiers and their generals seemingly ready for battle.
  • Hangzhou: “Paradise on Earth”, home to marvels, temples, and gardens

  • Departing from or arriving at nearby airports can often help you cut costs. Type in your preferred departure and arrival points. Next, select the 'Nearby airports' function below the form fields to explore your options.
  • If you're flexible with when you fly out, click on the 'Show flexible dates' link. It'll bring up flight deals for the days either side of your selected departure. Fares often vary depending on what day of the week it is.
  • Select 'Show options' to filter your search results. You can pick your preferred airline and seating class here. Under 'Sort & Filter' to the left, you can even select whether you want to fly in the morning, afternoon or evening.
  • Book as soon as you've worked out your travel dates. While you can get lucky on occasion, airline tickets rarely get cheaper as your departure date gets closer.
  • Save on your getaway by combining your flights, hotels and car rental into a package. Your credit card will thank you.
  • Flying during the busy season often means expensive airfares. Try to avoid traveling over popular dates, such as Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve and Easter.

What do I need for the flight to China?
A long-haul journey can be daunting, but it's nothing a little preparation can't fix. We've compiled our top tips and tricks to ensure your trip is a smooth one:

  • In all cases you'll need some identification. How much? This depends on which airport you take off from. When booking, you are encouraged to type in the same name, birth date and gender as written on your government-issued ID.
  • Pack some extra entertainment for your long trip to China. When you're done watching that series on your phone, give your eyes a much-needed break from all that screen time and read a book.
  • Long-haul flights can leave you feeling seriously cold, especially if you're flying overnight. If you prefer not to curl up to a stranger for warmth, pack a warm layer and some thick socks.

How do I get cheap first-class/business deals to China?
There are ways of booking business or first-class airfares to China that won't burn a hole through your budget. Pick up a seat in the pointy end of the plane for less with these useful tips:

  • Be more flexible with your travel dates and wait for big sales on business or first-class airfares.
  • Search for a budget airline that has seats in business class. They often come with more legroom and a glass of bubbly — and a more affordable price.
  • Make a bid for an upgrade. Some carriers hold online auctions that let you put down a price for a seat at the front of the plane. You can also try upgrading with points earned through a loyalty scheme.
