My family and I stayed here last year during spring break and had a blast. Everyone was in agreement that this was where they wanted to go again this year. Once again. we were not. disappointed. In addition to plenty of indoor room the spacious property allows for great times together but also room to enjoy some time without interruptions.
Want to enjoy the river but don't own a boat. No problem. the property come with a canoe (new this year) and kayaks to explore the river. What to lay outside feel the sun and wind on your face while listening to fish, birds and other animals nearby. The two new extra large hamocks are perfect. Like to fish there is a place for that here too. And the fire pit is the perfect place to end the day.
The house is 15mins from historic downtown Bastrop, the most historic town in Texas. The historic downtown and homes are fun to look at and I highly recommend the Welcome Center museum and walking trail along the river. Oh, you can also take care of your sweet tooth at The Sugar Shack.
Andy is a fantactic host with lots of local knowledge about the history of the area. He had us entrolled with his account of the life of "Baron de Bastrop" as we sat around the fire. He also goes the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. This year we mistakenly had our groceries delivered a day early. When we contacted Andy, he when over picked them up and kept them safe. When we arrived, he had already place the food and drinks in the fridge and snacks in the pantry. We were so thankful for his care and hospitality.
Needless to say that we are already looking forward to next spring break and I am trying to find some excuses to come back sooner.
