Sweet Family Retreat

We had a wonderful time at Once Upon A Beach—it was just what we needed and more! The cozy home was just a few steps from the beautiful AMI beach, making it truly memorable getaway. We’re already looking forward to staying again!

First Family Vacation in AMI

Our family loved our first vacation in AMI! Casa Mariposa was the perfect house and in the perfect location for our family of 8, with kids ranging in age from 6 to 17. The house felt like a retreat with bright, beautiful decor and all the amenities we needed. I really loved the mix of textures and colors throughout the house via the wallpaper, furniture, pillows, and bedding. The many screened in porches were the favorite spots for our family to relax and spend time with each other.There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels provided. There were also beach chairs, toys, and floats available to use. The available bug spray and suncreen was also very much appreciated. The house is located down the street from a public beach access and near the Sandbar restaurant on the sand, making it fun for the kids to go grab a bite to eat or a frozen drink on their own. It's also near Pine Street, making exploring the shops and restaurants easy to walk, bike, or ride to in a golf cart.The property managers were available via text if we needed anything or had any questions.It's rare that we would want to book the exact same property for a vacation, but this home is the exception. We would love to stay at Casa Mariposa again in the future!

Very Comfortable and Beautifully Decorated

We loved our time at Casa Mariposa. Great location. The pool was warm and clean. The house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Plenty of space (seating areas, tables, TVs), especially the screened-in balconies.

AMI Trip

Our stay was awesome! The property is located on a quiet street just a few houses from the beach and easily walkable to several shops and restaurants. House was spacious for 5 people and all the rooms were comfortable. Lots of outdoor patio space upstairs and downstairs. Would definitely stay again next time visiting AMI

Butterfly sanctuary

True to its name, Casa. Mariposa sits on a treat and plant filled lot that can’t help but attract butterflies! The property was tastefully decorated and spotless. An added bonus was the lap pool and spa, both of which were welcome after a day in the sun. The entire process with the property manager, Once Upon a Beach, was seamless and stress free.

An Amazing Stay

This house was beautiful and had everything you could want. The screened in porches and the breeze was heaven. The property was exactly as described. The pool was incredible, a tropical sanctuary! AMI was gorgeous! The restaurants were great. Wish we had more time. We will definitely be back!

AMI Family Vacation

Our family vacationed here for the week. The location of the house was perfect for a short walk to the beach or nearby shops and restaurants. We traveled with small children and cooked almost every meal at the house. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals which was nice. The pool house was filled with toys, beach chairs, bicycles, and more for outdoor fun. Another plus were the screened in porches which gave us additional room to enjoy the outdoors insect free. We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Mariposa!

Excellent beach access

This house is so close to the beach that it made it easy for everyone staying in the house. The pool made for another great option. We also loved sitting in the screened in porches. The house was spacious enough for everyone to have privacy. We loved our stay.

Great location, clean and luxurious.

The property is tucked away behind slightly overgrown landscaping but when you get inside you fall in love with the house. The "great room" is massive and great for large families and the kitchen is fully appointed with every appliance you could need. The pool is heated and perfect for small kids and has a build in heated/jetted spa. The property manager team is very easy to get ahold of and bends over backwards to help you with any issues that pop up. Last but not least, the location is amazing. You're just a few houses away from the beach and Pine Ave--where all the shops are located. We will definitely be staying here again if its available!

Sarlo Family Thanksgiving

This is our 9th year of Sarlo Family Thanksgiving which was almost cut out by Hurricane Ian. Thankfully we found 3 houses for our family, my Brothers family and In-laws! The pictures did not reveal how spacious the upstairs was! Loved our stay

We had our 3 kids & each brought a friend.: 2 college, 2 high school, & 2 middle school. House was well appointed and had everything we needed. 1 block from the beach made it easy going back and forth. Would definitely rent again.

Just incredible

The house is absolutely beautiful and offers every modern convenience. We rate it a 5++. First built in the 1920s, and secluded by a ring of mature palms, the property has recently been remodeled with an eye toward luxury. The decor is splendid – all professionally done. The open plan, indoor-outdoor great room is fit for Architectural Digest. The main-floor decks are screened, making every inch usable in moderate December weather. As far as we could tell, it is unlike any other property in the area. There were 7 of us, including a high-energy toddler. This made the house's many private spaces, from the large, well-lit bedrooms with comfortable chairs for reading, to the enclosed deck off the kitchen to the expansive children's room, with its lounge, essential to maintaining sanity. (My daughter used the latter, briefly, as office space; I used it as a reading area.) A large, uncrowded beach is just a three-minute walk away. The lap-pool and spa are first rate. The house has few drawbacks, but one would be the lack of natural light. The trees, which provide desirable privacy, also create jungle-like shade. The pool and spa face north and are often shrouded in shadow. Visitors would be well advised to bring mosquito repellent. The management was very responsive, sending over someone to fix the dishwasher (missing a wheel on the bottom rack) within an hour. (The dishwasher, btw, is the only device we would upgrade.) My wife and I also appreciated being able to check in early, as our flight arrived earlier than anticipated – though the okay came minutes too late to save us from the ubiquitous parking enforcers. (Beware: if your wheels touch the street line, it will cost you $50!) There is enough onsite parking to accommodate three cars. There is a wonderful, walkable shopping district around the corner, on Pine Street. We highly recommend Pizza Social! Overall, our stay in this gem was thoroughly delightful. We would gladly stay there again.

Buyer Beware

Considering the cost of this home, we hoped everything would be in good condition and working order, but we were disappointed. We experienced several problems, including a malfunctioning appliances and items that were in poor condition. Although we brought these issues to the attention of the property managers early in our stay, they were never resolved.

Lives up to the photos

Beautiful House and great location! The house lived up to all the beautiful pictures. We spent our days hanging at the beach and then coming back to swim in the pool or walking down Pine Avenue. The common area upstairs is huge and all the furniture is very comfortable. The screened in porches are comfortable and quiet. So many restaurants and stores within walking distance of the house. We ate at The Sandbar, The Waffle Press, Scoops, The Rod and Reel and The North Shore Cafe. We also drove down the beach to visit The West Coast Surf Shop. (A must it’s been in business since 1964) We loved our stay here and would highly recommend the house and the island!!!

Gorgeous property!

We loved our stay at this incredible home. The home had everything we needed and the kitchen was perfect for several fun family dinners. We loved the backyard with the pool for us and our 10 month old grand baby. We will definitely go back!!
