I'm a returner, so I like it enough to go back. The staff is always friendly and helpful and it is comfortable. However, the cleanliness of the room was not up to par. I stayed in Room 306 and there are several stains in the carpet and on the chair. The stain by the window looks like there was a crime there. I was only there for two nights so didn't bother to mention it, but at least I have this feedback form. JL is so convenient to the museums and local transportation options that I may come back, but I might just try another place for a new experience. Cheers!

Basement room a disappointment

My husband and I, with our two children, aged 17 and 13, spent three nights here. The location is excellent - a quick walk to the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, and cafes in the Museumplein neighborhood, away from the craziness of the Red Light District. There’s a convenient tram stop around the corner from which you can travel to any other areas. The honor bar for drinks and snacks was convenient. The breakfasts were fine. For some reason, we could not charge breakfast or honor bar items to our room, but had to pay at the front desk at each point of use. We did not know that our family room was located in the basement. The only windows were small openings near the ceiling from which you could only see pedestrians’ feet on the sidewalk above our room. The sink was located in the hallway with maybe a 20-watt bulb, making it impossible to see for basic grooming needs. Without natural lighting you need better wattage over the sink. The basement was depressing so we just avoided the hotel room as much as we could. The hotel bathrooms were located right next to our room and the elevator just across from our door. Noise was a concern but didn’t really become an issue. Most of the staff was friendly, with one exception on our second morning. This was the first time in 18 years of traveling as a family that we did not feel welcome. We would not return to this hotel despite the convenient location. The upstairs rooms are probably fine, but be sure to ask.

Wonderful hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel in the museum area of Amsterdam. The staff are amazing, and the hotel is clean, well-maintained, and has an excellent breakfast.

We had a fantastic 10/10 stay at the Hotel JL No76. Our room had a balcony facing the beautiful street and it was a pleasure to sit outside in the morning having had a comfortable night's stay in the Executive style room which was clean, quiet and stylish. Perfect location within walking distance of everything the Museumplein has to offer and the excellent Amsterdam transport system. The staff were wonderful and welcoming and offered their local knowledge in excellent English. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and when we return to Amsterdam, it will be to this hotel.

Not great basement room in lovely hotel

The hotel is really nice. The location is excellent, staff goes far above and is super friendly, and it is spotlessly clean. The public area is very pleasant. My only real issue is that upon check in we found out we had a “below ground” room. The staff member was kind of apologetic. It had some tiny windows near the ceiling at sidewalk level. Our room was very dark and we couldn’t see the weather. The expresso maker was in a dark little cabinet with no light nearby. I couldn’t use it. Overall, I would stay again if I could get a normal room. It was very disappointing to find out we weren’t given that information when booking it.

Location

Absolutely the best location. Museums 5 min walk, grocery store 6 min, tram a few minutes. Beds comfortable, room tight but clean and fresh. Staff excellent. Areas lacking... not a very good selection of walkable restaurants nearby and room rate high enough to offer vs charge for self serve coffee in the lounge area.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a large room and spacious bathroom. The breakfast (not included in the price of the room) was convenient, although somewhat limited. Hotel is steps away from several museums. I would definitely stay there again!
