Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre

3.0 out of 5.0

Nice, older hotel, great service, clean room, competitive price. Found few Vancouver hotels even have a pool and hot tub anymore. They let us check our bags after check-out till we took the late train.

Beautiful City, hotel well located , close to our needs!

Close to lots of shopping, restaurants, trolley lines.

Helpful, friendly staff. Lots of tour group apparently stay there.

Convenient, affordable, perfectly adequate option in downtown Vancouver.

Good location in Vancouver. However bad location for everything in th hotel, first of all the hotel is in 2 sections so different elevators to each side of rooms and secondly paid parkade 23$ is a seperate elevator so if you have more than one load at checkout itsa pita.

THE STAFF IS GREAT BUT THE HOTEL ITSELF IS AN AGED MESS, IT SMELLED THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEAN THE ELEVATOR NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. IT IS 2016 AND WHEN THEY ARE STILL USING A LCD TV FROM 2007 IT TELLS YOU THAT THEY CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE TIMES AND FOR THE PRICE THEY CHARGE THEY SHOULD HAVE NOT PROBLEM STAYING UP TO DATE!

We were happy to learn that the Sandman was in the heart of west Vancouver, with good shopping and restaurants nearby. The staff were very polite and helpful, especially in giving us an upgrade to a larger, more convenient room when our original room turned out to be too small for our needs.

Great location near Robson street and most Vancouver attractions. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. We would definitely consider this hotel again for future visits to Vancouver.

Our stay was very nice and convienent, I did not like the fact that the prices were all quoted in American funds.

Rooms were very comfortable and great value for the price. We were pleasantly surprised by the great meals -- fresh, delicious fare, beautifully presented. The meals compared to those we had at over twice the price. Highly recommended for your stay...

Conveniently located. All around good hotel. Family friendly.

Good spot. Usual stuff. Worth noting they had flyers posted at counter about warning patrons of vehicle thefts in the area. I had nothing stolen but did come out to a 100$ parking ticket from the lot they gave me a pass for. Counter guy said they'd take care of it.

This hotel is great, everything is close to it. the place is clean, the service is very helpful. no complains from me or my wife.

Hotel is in perfect location for a short walk to Rogers Arena. Room was clean and adequate. Door key slide was broken, causing multiple trips to the front desk. Movie rental was also not working.

The location is good, room is small but pretty clean. They charge $25/night parking, too expensive.

Not safe for car parking even with key access under garage and it cost $22 for parking fee. Got broken glasses and lost cell phone at 3 AM. However, Good location with lots of restaurant near by, like Starbuck and MC Donald. Good swimming pool. At the end, our trip will be better without any broken glasses and phone stolen incident.

Great location. Right across the street from BC Place.

Location of this hotel is perfect, a 5 min walk to lots of food, a theater, china town, the stadium and much more. The front desk staff was very serious and not very friendly. They weren't rude just seem more like robots. The bell boy was very friendly answered all our questions, even went down stairs and got us map and brought it up to us. The bartenders at the attached bar were super friendly too. They all took the time to talk to us and had some great conversations. My biggest complain was that no one told us when we checked in that Vancouver was having a heat wave and they weren't properly equipped for it. When we got to our floor (11th) the hall was super hot and we figured it was just the hall. We went to our room and it was 86 degrees in there. The room was clean and the view was gorgeous but we called they checked the AC, which to them it was functioning properly and got switched to a different room on the same floor and the opposite side of the building. It didn't help much, temp went down maybe 2 degrees. On multiple times I called the front desk and all they did was say they would have someone check it out. Again someone came and everything was fine. I asked for a fan multiple times and never receive an answer until I stood at the front desk waiting for an answer and they gave me a little top desk fan, that didnt really help. I didn't find out they knew about the issue until I was waiting for an elevator along with a hotel employee and he said they really should of warned the guests and not put anyone that high up because of the heat. We honestly wouldn't of stayed if we knew that from the beginning. I asked the front desk as well if they would be offering a discount to the guest for the inconvenience and the gentleman wrote a note for the manager but again I never heard from them. When I checked out, again the front desk was like robots, he didn't even ask how my stay was. He just checked me out. I think I would stay there again but will make sure to stay on a lower floor or not during summer time.

Room was clean and very comfortable. Elevators were somewhat slow, Location was excellent for events at the stadium We had to pay a much higher rate due to the World Cup event that night, so the value was poor, but on another day, the price is lower, and the value would be fine.
