The hotel is a mix of historic decor and updated renovation. The overall experience was similarly mixed, but the price was good. The location is great and an easy walk to downtown and the river walk. i arrived early and my room wasn't ready, although they said they would notify me (left my cell), I had to check again at the deck and it was available. My iron didn't work and I notified them in the afternoon but didn't get the iron that day. I had to go to the front desk early next day and then was informed housekeeping wasn't in till 8.30, something they hadn't told me when I called eariler that morning. I had a 7.30am meeting so I couldn't wait for HC, they had a spare behind the desk, fortunately so I didn't go to the meeting with a wrinkly shirt...

We stayed for one night before a cruise. We arrived quite early, and intended to have lunch in the stunningly beautiful restaurant to wait for our check-in time, but even though they were completely booked, they went out of their way to give us a room quite a bit earlier than usual. The room was lovely, a corner deluxe room in the 19th floor, beautiful period furniture. It was quite large, with a lovely view and accessible features. We did enjoy a very fine lunch after putting our considerable luggage in the room. Our cruise was a music cruise and we had several friends who also took rooms there before the cruise. We enjoy playing soft, tasteful music, and most are professionals. There was an area in the corner of the lobby with a bar. There was one couple there. We brought instruments in and played a few songs, rather softly, We had checked with management, who said it was just fine. However, the bar manager came in and lost his temper about us taking over his bar, and said we didn't have his permission. He was abraisive and loud and unreasonable. We even asked where there was a more appropriate area where we might play, but he refused to answer. I finally spoke to the event management director who said that she was in a bind because of several issues. One was that someone had booked several tables for an anniversary dinner and did not want anyone playing music during her event. Another was that we couldn't use the recently vacated event room or a bar downstairs.

Beautiful hotel. Very clean. The lobby is breathtaking.

There was no hot water in the hotel in the sink or the shower. Also when we checked out at 8:00 there was no valet to get my car. I was charged $15 dollars for valet parking but when we checked out I was handed my keys and had to walk a block with my luggage to go get my car. This is not what I expect when I pay that much money for a hotel room. We were very disappointed on our special Valentine's Day evening.

I love old hotels, and this one is old! The most important thing to me is the bed, and the bed was great. Second is the non-smoking room, no hint of tobacco in that room! I was surprised they did not have free parking! Guess I should have checked that! Fifteen dollars is a lot for overnight parking that was really not secure. She said the had camera s, guess they get a pic of the thieves if they stole my car! Location was what I needed so it worked out.

Great spacious rooms. Attentive, professional staff. Bar and weekend restaurant only amenities. North end, 3 blocks from Riverwalk and 4-8 blocks from other restaurants.. New adjacent structure under construction will block views to the West.

All in all a nice hotel that is in the heart downtown. I will list both the pros and cons. Pros: The hotel has a great historical presence. The inside is simply stunning if you have an appreciation for history. The rooms were of an adequate size and clean. We found the bed to be very comfy as well. Depending on which floor you stay on, stunning views of downtown are available. The location of the hotel puts you within walking distance of many of downtown's best restaurants and bars, fly bar, anise, franklin manor, etc. Cons: Ice, there aren't any ice machines on each level. The only way we were able to get ice was to go down to the hotel lobby and she had to retrieve from the bar. This may not pose a problem but when your staying on the 19th, you may not feel like having to go all the way downstairs to the lobby. There is a massive construction project going on directly across the street. They are building a high rise and its noisy. This building will also not be finished anytime soon. So expect to have to deal with this. I'd suggest requesting a room on the opposite side. Check out time is 11am. Do they really have to run the turbo charged banshee 4000 vacuum cleaner at 8am? It was extremely loud and annoying to say the least. Finally, there is a lot to side of the hotel where you park. Upon checking out we noticed that two cars had their drivers side windows shattered and their things stolen. I'd recommend not leaving any valuables in your car.

This hotel is beautiful, very comfortable and clean. It has a nice bar and great bar food. My only complaint would be that they should offer complimentary coffee, tea and water in the lobby

Close to me Yebor Ciyt but a few 10 minute walk to the Convention center.

My stay was a bit disappointing after reviewing the photos of the hotel. There are no bellmen to assist with luggage. The first night, the air did not work and made a very loud clicking noise after turning it off. After requesting another room, there was no assistance--only a luggage cart to move yourself to another room. Upon moving to another room, the telephone was not operable and the room shading blinds near the bed were broken, so the blinds remained open all night. Upon being told someone would come in the next day to either fix the blinds or move me to another room, neither happened--no one fixed the blinds nor did anyone attempt to fix the blinds. There are no microwaves in the rooms nor any microwaves guests can utilize to warm food. It is a nicely designed hotel, but the amenities and services are not consistent with the rates charged.

Is a goog hotel with an excelent location! I recommend this hotel for a good vacation

This is an older hotel and while that might be charming it is musty and feels worn. The room was adequate, but the tv selection is limited and the wifi was spotty. Staff was personable and helpful, and there were good restaurants in walking distance but the hotel is on the outside edge of this area.

I wrote a review earlier but apparently it did not post...the customer service was not up to par. Upon check-in, which was an hour over the 2pm check-in time, we were told to come back in 30 minutes because the room was not ready. The room was not ready for the rest of the afternoon. No offer of a drink at the bar or snack to compensate for the inconvenience. They were telling other guests checking-in that they should come back after dinner...and it's only 3:30pm in the afternoon. I think that is truly poor customer service, regardless of the excuse of a cruise crew coming in that day. A hotel should prepare for any circumstances so that all customers' needs are met. Hotel room was ok with some cracker crumbs near the bed...apparently, they don't vacuum well. Also, room is quite long so inconvenient to get to bags or clothes or the bathroom. No amenities in the room. The following morning after breakfast, my colleague and I tried to return to the room only for our card keys not to work and we had separate rooms! We went back to the hotel desk and all they could say was that I must have kept it next to my phone. I felt like I was treated like an idiot since that is common sense. It was not the case because a 3rd person complained that she could not get in her room only 2 minutes from when we complained. Neither of us had checked out yet. The front desk also told me that we would need to go outside for breakfast. He recommended that it would only be two blocks away and it ended up being 8 blocks away to find an open place. Nick was the only accommodating staff member. He definitely had great interpersonal skills and was apologetic for the inconveniece of the late check-in. Overall, not recommended unless more updates are made....maybe real flower arrangements in the lobby to start. I mean, it is Florida after all.

The place was dirty. And the price was ridiculous. Not worth the time or the money. The least favorite park of the vacation. The toilet was filthy. And I just left and took a shower somewhere else. Not taking any chances. The bed was uncomfortable too.

We stayed here for the Gasparillo festival. The hotel was clean and well taken care of. We were relatively close to all the action. We will stay here again in the future.

It was pleasant. Had a few issues with checkout but overall good experience

Upon arrival you will think... "wow, kinda cool" you'll say hi to nice front desk person who will professionally complete your check in.... you'll go up a nice wooden elevator.... into a nice hallway. ... and find your nice room. The workmanship feels like you are in a third world country... carpet weird lumps throughout. . Rag (towel particles) all over the floor.. just lots of weird things throughout. This is a one night visit place at best. Nothing wrong... but at the same time... nothing right.

Everyone we ran across was very nice! Beautiful hotel. We would stay again.

Lovely, remodeled, and redone. Beautifully so. This won't feel like your ordinary, modern hotel, but it is meant to evoke a much more beautiful era. Wifi was nice. Food in the restaurants was excellent, too. Clean, comfy, room and wonderful waitstaff.

Classic, elegant hotel built in the 1920's. Lobby and bar feature high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. No breakfast available on-site. Small flat-screen TV in room with very basic channels-no ESPN, FX, TNT, HBO, or other cable channels. Price is a little high compared to nearby other downtown Tampa hotels. Unfortunate, because this hotel should be on historic registry, but likely will go belly up. City of Tampa should purchase this hotel as a historic site. Location is across from Courthouse and near Ybor City, a very cool and historic locale with great nightlife and restaurants.
