An old, historic property that is a throwback to a bygone era. Unfortunately they are completely gentrifying it and ruining that aspect. Still a nice place for the money.
Property is undergoing renovations. Carpet coming is looks like it’s been there since the 20’s. Desk staff was less than stellar. I’m addition to three calls confirming my reservation by phone it was cancelled upon arrival. I would contact them to make sure renovations are complete before making a reservation.
The stay at the Floridan was good. Overall the property worked for my staff in Tampa. It is a conveient location and close to everything. The parking is a little tough, but you just have to plan. There is an extra lot. Breakfast is really good, but they could use more space. Elevators were broken, but they get them working.
Place was old, not taken care of, stunk bad. Paint peeling on the walls. We ended up leaving and staying. Got another hotel near by.
Every time we walked to and from the parking lot we were followed and haggled by the vagrants there. We did not see any security in either parking area as we were assured. Comforter not supplied, we had to go to the lobby to get 2 thin throw like blankets. We were only supplied with one each of shampoo and conditioner 0.75 oz. No water pressure in the shower. The floor in the room was very warped as was the ceiling. The bath towels and wash cloth was very rough. It seems like routine care and updating has not been done throughout the years. The furniture seats were all sagging. Staff was very kind and accommodating. At first site the lobby looks beautiful. However, on closer look there is a lot empty areas. After looking at previous photos a lot of decor and furniture have been removed and nothing to replace it with. I really think there is a lot of potential and hope that with the upcoming renovations it will be brought back to its charm with the accommodations of other luxury hotels that were built around the same time. Definitely sad that we paid $699 for 2 nights for sub par amenities/accommodations. Even with the upcoming renovations there are ways to still provide a great experience and accommodations.
I loved the historical touch. Staff was great. The building appearance needs floors to be polished and maintained. Carpet needs shampooing or replaced. My room chair had stains in it. Cable needs to be upgraded.
Excellent customer service. Great people at the front desk
Great hotel
Excellent
Old
Historical site but old
Very nice older hotel
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic hotel. The beds were a bit too firm for our liking and parking was an issue. The lot that is next to the hotel is so small unless you are driving a smart car you will have a hard time parking.
Great
Good
This property was beautiful and clean and i didn't want to leave. The staff was amazing from the time we walked in till we left. I will come back to Tampa just to stay here nothing else. I dont do reviews but this was worth it. A little pricey for the area its in but when your in there your no longer in Kansas lol.
This is an formerly grand hotel that has gone through some difficult days. While you can see touches of its former glory, the current management needs an infusion of cash to get the property up to snuff. The ornate and elegant lobby is a great introduction to the hotel and the rooms bear some vestiges of its former glory. The location is very good and I can see what the potential for the property might be in the long term. Yet it suffers in many aspects. The bedding situation alone is challenging, I had a thin microfiber "comforter" along with a bedsheet for sleeping. The rooms are moist with humidity. The breakfast was very disappointing as they were out of many items (who runs out of butter?) and it caused challenges. The management is very kind and I appreciate their work. This hotel needs a couple million in capital to really get to where it could compete on a regular basis. I wish them the best.
The status of our account wasn’t correct when checking in, extra charges were not communicated.
