Ponce De Leon Hotel

The hotel was dated, but clean. The rooms definitely need some updating and the bathrooms are VERY small. The fire alarm went off around midnight on the first night of our stay so that was annoying. However, the bed was comfortable, so we slept well. The hotel staff was polite but not very friendly or welcoming. The location is great for the downtown St. Pete area and it's right above Ceviche, which has amazing food. Overall, the location was great but the hotel itself needs some serious upgrades.

The hotel has not been updated in many years. Tile in the shower had dark spots which may have been mold. The elevator took several minutes to open on the second floor. At one point the elevator did not work at all and I had to walk up 6 flights of stairs only to get all of the way to my room and the key did not work. The staff brought up a new key. The hallway had a bad odor. The staff was pleasant enough when spoken to but they did not go out of their way to acknowledge or greet anyone. The bathroom is very small so there is no counter to put cosmetics or any personal items. One small soap dish in the shower so I had to put everything on the floor.

More like a European backpacker hostel than a historic hotel.

Difficulty getting around. Road closures and many one way only roads added to difficulty.

A very charming place which was a nice break from the chain hotel experience.

stayed in the honeymoon suite. nice hot tub next to bed, decent sized room, comfortable beds.

Convenient downtown location is the only plus. A/C blew tepid air. Mattress was so soft you sunk into it. Was never able to connect to WiFi and which of the two to used wasn't explained. Topped off with no convenient parking. We were directed to a parking garage down the block and around the corner.

The hotel room was fine. The cleaning job was decent, perhaps a bit rushed when I checked in. The attached restaurant is nice and convenient and the location is great and very walkable. I’m glad I got a sale price for this room. In the future, I would stay again, but only if other larger chain hotels were unavailable.

Stay was for relaxing trip. Location of the hotel was excellent. Easy access to walk to many restaurants and attractions downtown. Easy to catch trolley or uber/lift to many others. We arrived and could not check in until 3pm. They kept bags while we walked around and ate. Came back and room was ready. Easy check in and friendly service. This is an older building which added to the beauty and appeal of the hotel. The room was smaller but perfect for what we needed. We had a one bed room that was decorated contemporary. The hard wood floors appeared to be original and were very nice. Bathroom was small but adequate. Water pressure for shower was a bit on the low side, somewhat expected for the older building. Overall we had a great experience and hope to be able to stay again. Note: We did not have a car. Parking in the area is limited. Going in we chose to not have to worry about places to park. Found it easy go get around without the car.

It was clean jus need some added amenities to the rooms.

Mold in bathroom, broken windows, old smelly carpets. Elevator gets stuck on 2nd floor

Convenient hotel, able to walk to most places around.

Didn't stay. Smelled awful (urine). Very tired, Construction on two sides of street. No refund.

Had a great stay at a classic boutique hotel. Renovations have made it much better than when we stayed there several years ago.

This was our third stay here. The hotel is very centrally located and close to the waterfront, restaurants and attractions. We had a small issue with our toilet in the morning and was given the key to another room so we could use the facilities! Great customer service! Will definitely stay again!

Kind of creepy looking. Different in person than in pictures.

An old but updated hotel. Rooms are small and need more places to sit and store things. Parking is a hassle with a limited valet service. No on site parking. A parking garage nearby. I went for price as they were the cheapest downtown. The Hampton Inn right next door were $60 higher per night.

Room and bath were far better than prior reviews. Great stay. I can't wait to bring my wife back for a few days. Very romantic. Parking garage was safe and convenient. Every thing is so beautiful along the waterfront. You do not want to leave the area. Lots to do within walking distance.

Came for the Indycar race paid WAYYYY too much. Front desk staff didn't even stand up when you walked in, spoke little English, and were generally confused about life itself. Housekeeping walked in the room twice even though the do not disturb sign was up. Maintenance issues everywhere. Hotel is crumbling, ceiling tiles had holes everywhere, most of the room number signs were missing at least one number. Bathroom had hair in it. The one shelf wasn't usable, it was leaning downward. The blinds smelled as if they hadn't been cleaned ever. Other housekeeping issues were masked with a pleasant perfume. The location however is outstanding close to everything, race cars actually passed right by the hotel. It's sad that this place is such a dump. A proper hotelier would do very well. All these issues are due to poor management a strong leader will be able to turn this place around and make it the best place in St. Pete.
