Hampton Inn San Antonio-Downtown (River Walk)

2.5 out of 5.0

Laura at the front desk was very nice. Gated parking, you do have to pay to park there which I think is dumb especially if your a hotel guest but at least it's cheaper then the other hotels. Breakfast was good, no complaints. But I absolutely hated the bed. It was so hard I had a difficult time falling asleep.

We are used to stay at Hampton Inn hotel, but this one was far below average. The facilities are not so clean as the others and it is outdated. The good points are the location and the staff, specially Laura, that is very friendly.

Breakfast was great, water was always cold and available, but the halls and rooms were worn. We were in San Antonio during a heat wave and the water was a welcome sight every day, all day. Breakfast was the usual fare, but the staff was outstanding. They replenished immediately and were available for assistance.

Was close to the River Walk and Alamo. Had a great breakfast. Loved the gated parking.

Front desk were unable to answer any questions about the area.Bathroom dirty. Horrible pillows & sheets

I travel a lot, so familiar with the various brand name hotels. I asked if they would enter my HH number and was very abruptly told by "Jamie" that because I booked through a 3rd party, they won't honor this as a stay for HH. She never explained the breakfast or how to connect to the WiFi in the hotel (all other persons checking in prior to me, she mentioned this to them). She explained the parking and that they have parking inside and outside a gated area of the hotel. Asked if it was safer if parking inside the gated area and she said not really, you don't know what can happen to the cars....this made me feel better. I felt that because I booked the one night through another source other than Hilton, my reservation was as important as the walk-in guest ahead of me! The hallways and carpet could use some cleaning and vacuuming. My room was mostly clean and acceptable, but the dust bunnies along the baseboards and around the furniture might be an issue for someone with allergies or asthma. The locks for the doors are being upgraded, and the clerk told me that the keys she was creating would work on the new locks.....well no they didn't. I had the old lock still on my door, which required me to return, with my suitcase and laptop bag, back to the lobby and ask for the other keys to be made up. Jamie seemed surprised that the 6th floor was completed with the lock upgrade.

The pictures online are deceiving. This hotel is really outdated.

The hotel was easy to locate and near the convention center. We were able to walk everywhere downtown and visit numerous restaurant locations. Riverwalk within walking distance. Rooms were clean and the air conditioner kept the room cool and restful. The only issue we had was the neighbors could be heard. We did have someone attempt to get into our room three separate times on the evening of our stay. Breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. Your choices were wide open and nice eating area.

Clean, good shower very comfortable bed...close to the river walk, though e drove and parked right next to it. Breakfast was full of good choices and coffee was good too

It was good, specially the HOT breakfast and location

This was our second visit to San Antonio and we wanted to be near the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The Alamo was just two blocks away. The staff at Hampton Inn were excellent. One person even got us ice from an icemaker on another floor and delivered it to our door! The maid was very friendly and cheerful also. And the breakfast off the lobby was very good. There also a young man assisted us in the breakfast area! A very comfortable visit. Thank you.

Great hotel. I always stay here. Great location and even better staff. Recommend for anyone looking for a fun weekend in San Antonio.

This hotel is not on the Riverwalk, but a two block walk takes you to the Mall and easy access to it. More importantly, the staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful. Not only did they find a frig for our room, but they patiently provided directions every time we asked a question.

My family and I had a great family trip, we were there to celebrate my daughter's 10th birthday, and although we have had many trips to San Antonio, she is finally old enough to remember these kind of trips. She was talking about the apartment the hotel room the whole way back. Thank you Hampton for providing her with a great experience.

great place to stay in San Antonio. clean and very friendly and helpful staff

The hotel is close to the Alamo, Riverwalk and affordable. The breakfast was good. The staff were very tolerant. I saw the receptionist handling a very unreasonable guest with more grace and politeness that I would have been able to manage.

Hotel location was great, close to the river walk, Alamo and downtown sights and businesses. Hotel rented my room, I was relocated to a handicap room which I was not pleased about. The rooms are not what other Hampton expectations are. The pool closed too early for its location to the night life. The manager to whom I spoke with to request a late checkout on my last day was extremely rude and raised her voice to my request. I assumed with the room mishap this would be no problem. My grandmother owns a motel and it is operated much more efficient and friendly. I will stay at a different hotel upon my near return visit to San Antonio.

My husband and I traveled to San Antonio for a weekend get away and wanted to be close to downtown. The location of the hotel was good and the hotel room was clean. Parking is $15 a night which we found to be a little ridiculous. The breakfast was cold the first morning and the staff was not overly friendly. Overall, it was an average experience.

Loved that the hotel was within walking distance of the river walk.

The stay was average nothing special but it was fine for one evening. The Hotel was easy walking distance to the Riverwalk which was very nice. The room was hot and the ac was noisy and not effective. This was winter and I would not like to be here in the San Antonio Summer.
