Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Downtown/The Gateway

We stopped here on the way home. The hotel was super clean, in a good location, close to the freeway and close to the downtown, and even served a good breakfast.

Great hotel and location. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, nice couch setup with a TV that swings around. Good wifi. The only problem was I meant to book at Hyatt HOUSE, not Hyatt Place, didn't know there were two. I wanted the one with the superheated outdoor winter pool--that was the point of the visit--but I booked the wrong one because the Orbitz pool photos looked the same. I was unable to switch Place for House when I tried checking in. Other problem is that the spa was out of order on day one and I was trying to recuperate from some leg problems. Otherwise all good. Breakfast a bit underwhelming, go to Finn's instead for a great Scandinavian breakfast.

In terms of service, cleanliness and design, the Hyatt Place SLC misses. My initial check in required over 15 minutes with one person was ahead of me and two front desk people looking clueless. My three visits to the front desk ( two to buy a Diet Coke and one to check out) were painfully slow. My room smelled of carpet cleaner and vomit. It didn’t have electrical outlets near the bed or side tables and reading material looked well used including the food menu. Breakfast stop being served at 9 am and staff completely indifferent. Fine for a budget motel but not for a Hyatt .

Friendly staff and excellent facilities. Breakfast was well above expectations. Stay here it’s great.

Everything was great overall. The free daily breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety. The staff that work there exceeded my expectations by consistently being professional and kind. The hotel in my room we're all very clean and tidy at all times. They had a movie night on Wednesday which included free snacks and alcoholic beverages; I thought that was really awesome. It was not the cheapest hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, but it was definitely worth the extra money.

Staff was least helpful in guiding for places to visit. Not willing to help with luggage or giving directions.

My mistake, but I thought the pool was indoors. That would've been nice.

Very nice location and service. Hotel had everything i needed.

It was perfect. Hope to stay there again. Very modern and nice

caring and kind staff. catered to our needs quickly and kindly

The bartender was very informative, let us know of places to go and see. Very helpful.

Accommodation staff very friendly room comfortable. Would stay there again

Did not like $10 per day parking fee. Was not aware until bill slipped under door.

Nice clean hotel close to all of the cities tourist sites. Rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The room was very clean and the staff was friendly....But. The bed was a little too firm, The breakfast was not so good, and nobody likes paying for parking.

Very hospitable go the extra mile. It is always quite and comfortable. Close to lots of concerts. And games willing to make changes and very well priced.

Mostly clean room. Sofa had a few stains on it and the bathtub had mold growing in the corners.

Hotel was very clean. Staff was excellent and very helpful with a really caring attitude! Would recommend this Hyatt to all travelers.

We enjoyed our stay over a weekend. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast at the buffet much better than most offered by other hotels. Parking very accessible and free and even a complimentary newspaper. A good solid value in downtown Salt Lake City.
