Terrible Penthouse

After purchasing the VRBO, no communication was received by the host. 1am on day of check in he finally sent me our check in procedures. Very stressful, I wasn't sure if I had a place to stay or not.No Internet which means no TV for the full duration. Text the host upon finding out we had no internet, he never responded. Balcony was full of trash. Cornhole boards were destroyed.Pool table felt was ripped.Bathroom Towel racks were broken. Bathroom Door was off the hinges.Toilet seat was broken.Overall cleanliness of the so-called Penthouse was well below average.Back door did not lockStairwell leading to outdoors did not have a light, had to use our cell phone.Numerous Light bulbs throughout the apartment did not work.Per VRBO there was suppose to be 2 futons, there were none.Highly not recommend staying at this so-called Penthouse.

Disappointing

Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. Despite multiple attempts, we received no communication from the host, which made things even more frustrating.The porch was littered with trash, broken furniture, and cornhole boards that were unusable. The outdoor TV was uncovered and didn’t work at all. Inside, the kitchen was infested with ants, and the general condition of the apartment was poor—peeling paint, doors falling off hinges, stained carpets, and even burn holes in the bedding.While the location is great and the apartment itself has a lot of potential, the reality fell far short of expectations. For the price paid, I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

Absolute Living Nightmare!!! PLEASE HEED MY WARNING

The host- Cameron, did not communicate anything aside from the check in directions the day of my stay. When I arrived to the property at 2:50 PM for a 3:00 PM check-in, after 3 messages to Cameron asking about an early check-in, there were no keys available. I called Cameron and he let me know the cleaners were behind and that the keys should be there shortly. I returned to the property at 3:40 PM, no keys. I waited in the adjacent parking lot, thankfully during daylight hours, with my exhausted and sick 3 year old, for over an hour, at this point my calls to Cameron were going straight to his voicemail box as if he had blocked me. I had groceries with me that were quickly defrosting. At that point Cameron stated there was a misunderstanding and that this property was double booked, someone was already there. Cameron offered me a second property down the road. In desperation to get my 3 year old down for a nap I obliged and dragged her (crying and exhausted) up to the 5th floor of the 2nd property, followed the check-in instructions, and WALKED IN ON PEOPLE WHO WERE STAYING IN THE UNIT!!!! Still no answers from Cameron to my calls. Eventually he concedes that he messed up, cancels my reservation and issues me a refund. I cannot overstate how not only was this an inconvenience but this event was truly a safety concern from beginning to end. I plan to follow up with VRBO and local law enforcement if needed to make sure this doesn't happen to other folks. STAY AWAY!

Weekend celebration

Stayed here with a few friends and family for my birthday weekend. It was very spacious. Only thing was parking was a bit confusing and we didn’t know how to open the door to balcony so we used the other door.

Potential - yes; Luxury - no!

Stayed while visiting family in the area. It has potential to be a great rental - it's spacious with restaurants & activities nearby. Host was very responsive prior to booking, answering my question about parking even sending me a photo of the "reserved" parking spot within minutes. However, once booked, the host was totally unresponsive, we reached out several times, as did VRBO. Despite confirming off-street parking, upon arrial we were met with signs in the "reserved" parking spot and at VRBO unit's door, stating all non-employee cars will be towed at owner's expense. Street parking is limited to one hour from 8am-6pm and garages within 2 blocks do not allow overnight parking. Entry was unshoveled & drips from above the door turned snow to 3" of ice. We found the unit to be dirty and in disrepair. The refrigerator, floors, couch & surfaces were sticky from spills and had trash left by previous renters & the kitchen sponge was disgusting. There were mouse traps in the dishes! I had to refill all the hand soap and shampoo containers. We found much of the unit needs repair/replacing: towel & TP holders are all broken leaving no place to hang towels (no washcloth provided); tub faucet disconnected; glass tea kettle had broken glass; broken blinds; and unsecured moldings with protruding nails.An unflush cable stretches across a bedroom door and tools and ladders left about - trip hazards! Has potential, but we will not rent from this unresponsive host.

Fun Time

It was an excellent location, very close to the museum for our large family of 10. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The couch did not turn into a pull out bed as advertised but we made it work. Also the door on the bathroom was falling off its hinge, so there were a few minor repairs that could be done to improve. Overall the place was perfect for our needs and was a fun location for our mini family vacation with kids. I would recommend staying here and we will be using this location again ourselves!

As advertised - big, bright space but not for everyone

We were in town for Rochester's graduation, two sets of relatives stayed in the generously large space. Outside space, living room with pool table and large TV together with great weather and view of the city provided for a lovely family celebration. The space matched the pictures but note no closets and minimum kitchen amenities. Space is on third floor with two sets of steep stairs and no ability to buzz in from third floor. Location is convenient to city and Rochester and other neighborhoods, but I would say still in transition.

Overall OK stay

Communication with the host prior to and during our stay was limited. The host was not prompt at responding, if at all. There were several bags of garbage inside the door of the building that we had to step over and walk past every time we entered and exited the building. Parking was very limited. The reserved spot for our unit was occupied our entire stay. We paid for street parking most of our stay-which was an added expense. The living room only had a couch-not futons as listed which limited our sleeping spaces. Overall cleanliness and aesthetics of the unit were clean and inviting.

No responsive host

The WIFI did not work the entire stay. Despite contacting Cameron the host numerous times - email message and voice mail. I had no response. What if something more serious was requiring your response Cameron? I have waited a week to post this review, allowing you more than enough time to apologize for (1) the inconvenience (2) your lack of response. Great venue - poor hosting!

The apartment met all of its listing requirements and my expectations. It is located in the center of town which made it accessible to most places that I needed to visit. Every destination was reachable with 15 minutes.

Nice place to stay

Needed a place to stay for a soccer tournament. Place was clean, had all the amenities that we needed for the weekend. Check in and out was easy. Would definitely stay there again

Overall good experience

Property is nice; needs some TLC in some aesthetic aspects/repairs. Could not find the cornhole bags, there were only 3 usable darts for the dartboard and the rooftop TV would not turn on. Apartment was clean and mostly modern but would like to see TVs in the bedrooms and ice cube trays in the freezer would have been nice. Access to the property was simple and explained well. Proximity to shopping/restaurants entertainment was great. Great views from the rooftop deck. At first glance we thought skylights were shattered but actually appears to be a protective film that is peeling and needs to be replaced. It didn’t bother me but my husband and daughter were particularly sensitive to the strong Febreeze smell. All in all, a good experience and would stay again in the future but would like to see these minor things addressed to better the rental.
