I stayed in Room 357 at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump overnight on October 26. I had spent the day in meetings, was tired and went to sleep without examining the bedding. Imagine my shock and dismay when I awoke the next morning and saw that the pillow I had been sleeping on had what "appeared" to be blood stains. This was not my blood. On further examination of the bedding, I noted that the pillow I had slept on as well as another pillow, did not have pillowcases on them. Those pillows were enclosed in a white zippered protector but were missing pillowcases. I further noted there was what also "appeared" to be blood on a small area of the sheet. Clearly the stained pillowcases had been removed from the pillows but the rest of the bedding had not been changed. Such a breach in hygiene should not be tolerated. I immediately called the front desk and complained. I was informed that the manager would call me. There was no phone call. I made formal complaints to Marriott Corporate Offices via email and received 10,000 Marriott reward points as if that would make up for my very negative experience. I subsequently called corporate Marriott to complain and asked for a call from the manager at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump to discuss the terrible breach in hygiene. I have not received a call. If anyone stays in this hotel, I recommend carefully examining the bedding for its cleanliness before sleeping. (I am told I have to say "appears" to be blood to avoid possible libel).

Let's see: The room. There were only 2 drawers which together would be smaller than nightstand drawers in any other hotel. So our clothes were in piles around the room. Why anyone thinks that glass bathroom doors is a good idea is beyond me...any bathroom activity lights the entire room during the night. I know this is a Marriott thing. We traveled late and this hotel decided that it would be a great idea to test the fire alarms at 9am with no notification. Desk clerk laughed when I complained. Finally, to top it off the last night at 1030 we returned to find that the room had not been made up. Like I said, we're going back to the Hilton.

Location of the Marriott was very good..Close to everything including restaurants. Room was nice size with comfy beds and a sofa. Service was excellent. Elevator was quick. The food in the restaurant was very good...We didn't try the buffet but it looked like it was good and hot and there was plenty of choices.

The lobby is modern and inviting. The staff is helpful and eager to please. The hotel was recently renovated, unfortunately it's already showing wear and tear. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are relatively quiet. The laminate surfaces on the work space are already delaminating. That wallpaper feature above the bed is already falling off the wall. Overall, comfortable and clean, just showing a bit of wear prematurely.

We came into town for an event that was unfortunately cancelled at the last minute due to a snow storm. The StayWell room that we booked more than made up for the frustration of the drive and cancellation. The staff was very helpful both on our arrival and early departure, and all of the additional items we requested were waiting for us in the room. The room itself was like a spa: with air purification, hypoallergenic linens, diffuser, and smart lighting. This was definitely worth the upgrade and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We enjoyed the good level of service in this hotel. The check in process was easy. Our room was on fourth floor. Nicely appointed and tastefully decorated. Small refrigerator, coffee station, water, free WiFi without elaborate password. We had access to 24h lounge with drinks and snacks. Our included hot full breakfast also took place in that lounge. The hotel has a restaurant and a friendly lobby bar. Small minuses include the bathroom door system precluding real privacy and intense housekeeping knocking on the door well before the checkout time. Another thing we enjoyed about the hotel was the proximity of the Insbrook Park with walking trails, lakes and beautiful nature.

Our first review was upon arrival at this Marriott. After staying there for three nights, this is a more complete review. First...the room WAS NOT serviced for the entire three days we were there! Our final night my husband was so infuriated that the room hadn't been cleaned AGAIN he went to the desk. They sent someone up to at least change the sheets and give us some bath linens. Each morning we would go for breakfast (more on breakfast later) and Housekeeping would be on the floor we were using. Yet, NO ONE made up our room, gave us new linens or made the bed. Second...the morning after Thanksgiving we went down for breakfast (included in our fee). The place was a mess!!!!!!!!!!!! There was food all over the tables that WERE NOT being bussed. We had to "bus" our own table!!!!! The buffet was a mess with a LOT of food not being replaced. Couldn't even get a cup of coffee until I told someone the cream was empty. No one watching over the buffet. They had a field hockey tournament and there were a lot of kids. I don't believe they just learned of this so why wasn't there adequate staff? A very dirty environment to select food from. The service at this hotel was dreadful. As my husband said, clearly they weren't interested in providing any service. A couple of the staff were friendly enough but that doesn't make up for paying for a room with NO SERVICE WHATSOEVER THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE!!! We have always stayed at Marriotts and this one was a HUGE disappointment in a very beautiful location. By the way, this is Part II of a review. We haven't heard a word from anyone on Part 1 of the review where I posted pictures of a very dirty, scuzzy looking shower and stains on the bathroom counters, etc. Also, a suspicious white stain on the sofa. I took additional pics of the room where the sprinkler system is RUSTED and the paint is peeling!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with these people? You would have thought they would have at least deducted something from our bill. They are trading on their location in a lovely office park. NO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I travel a bit for work and Marriott is my hotel of choice. This location is very modern and clean. The service is impeccable. The restaurant on-site has delicious food and the presentation is delectable! Prices are reasonable and there's plenty of shopping close by.

We were there for just one night a few days before Thanksgiving. The hotel was prett empty, and no conferences going on. Had snacks/drinks in the bar/restaurant, and were the only people there. Went out to a meeting and returned for bed, but we were right next to the back of an elevator, and everytime someone went on it, there was this horrible mechanical noise. It was too late to change rooms, and it was late so not much elevator traffic. But starting at 4:00 AM we never slept any more. We are Marriott platinum members, and while I don't expect a suite upgrade, I do expect not to be put in the worst room in the hotel, particularly when the place is hardly booked. The room (637) should not even be used. Other than not sleeping, the newly renovated hotel is nice. The staff were all very friendly. I have to just assume that the front desk associate who put us in the room was new. The M Club is nice, though the breakfast here was a little disappointing compared to other Marriotts. That could be due to it being a Monday morning and very few guests eating. I would give the hotel another try, but definitely will ask for a room not behind the elevator.

My wife and I spent one night at this hotel while in town visiting friends. The room was clean and modern, and there was ample parking. The hotel is located in a nice business park area with plenty of restaurants nearby. Great for business travelers and families alike. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.
