Formerly a country store in the 1940's, this 103 year old home has charm for days. A 6 person genuine Jacuzzi hot tub melts away your troubles. The fire pit is ready to go with plenty of firewood. The large bathroom is newly renovated with a step in shower. Views of the mountains from the backyard and amazing sunsets through the trees. 10 minutes from the Caverns, and 15 minutes from the Bonnaroo farm. Monteagle is a short 8 minute drive up Highway 41.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, and I want to emphasize that the host was very kind and accommodating with our pre-arrival requests. Unfortunately, the property itself was not what we expected, and we chose to leave shortly after arriving.The smell of cigarette smoke hit us as soon as we opened the door. While looking for the bathroom light, I unexpectedly stepped down into a lower level and injured my foot—there was no signage or mention of the step. Outside, there was what appeared to be an abandoned motorhome in the front yard and a junked boat in the back, which made the property feel unkept.Most concerning, the doors did not feel secure. The front door wouldn’t stay closed unless the deadbolt was engaged, and the back door had no deadbolt at all and a loose knob.I don’t fault anyone for trying to earn income from a property, and again, the host was truly kind. But in its current condition, this property does not feel safe or suitable as a VRBO rental.

Had a nice quiet stay, very quaint little place. A little more rustic than we were expecting, obvious that there is not always someone around to take care of it. We were all okay with it but some people might not find it looking quite like the photos. Didn't get much info ahead of time including the entry code but also didn't ask for it, renter was also on a trip and was definitely communicative right away once we were there. Overall we definitely enjoyed ourselves, there were some games, puzzles, books and records we had fun with and I at least put the jacuzzi to good use!

Not as expected

The house was musty, mildewy and unclean. Yard was not mowed (3" if grass in the back yard) deck was falling apart, hot tub was rusted. Pati furniture falling apart. There was food in the refrigerator and personal belongings in the dresser drawers. There was a 1" gap under the entry door which let me to believe there were probably a lot of mice hiding somewhere in the house. The entry door also didn't close unless you used the deadbolt. We ended up leaving and going to a hotel after two hours. The house was definitely not what was pictured in the ad.

Perfect spot!

I have nothing but positive things to say about staying here! Great amount of space inside and out, easy to find, perfect location, wondeful host. Daniel was super accommodating right out the gate and allowed us to bring our foster dog as well as our forever dog instead of leaving one with the pet sitter which made planning our trip so much easier. The house is well stocked and all five of us felt right at home. The short drive to/from the Caverns was the icing on the cake. We all wished we had a couple more days to enjoy the pool and hot tub! 10/10 would definitely stay again!
