This weekend we stayed at this hotel for an activity my child was participating in that was held there. The first day of our stay was pretty good but the next day was a nightmare. We didnt get our room cleaned because the hotel apparently was completely booked the night before and they dont have enough cleaning staff to accommodate for this. We went to the front desk and they said they were going to get our room cleaned. We talked to the cleaning staff on our floor and they said that we were on their list. By 5pm our room still wasnt made up. I called the front desk yet again still nothing. When they finally got someone to our room to make our beds they didnt leave any clean towels for us so yet again we had to talk to the front desk to get towels..."oh we will send someone right up" ...didnt happen i had to go to the front desk yet again and just pick clean towels up myself...unaccepatble hospitality wise if you ask me. Then we went to the restautant after our events at this venue for the day. That experience was a train wreck. People who got sat and ordered after us received their food WAY BEFORE WE DID..3 tables that got sat after us got fed before us. Server said kitchen lost the ticket...then over an hour later when we did get our food...well at least some of us got our food...one person in our party didnt even get theirs because they couldnt get the order right in the kitchen and said that "oh we accidentally boxed that for someone who had a carry out". Really? By this time our evening and weekend were ruined. We had been here last year when the hotel was a Ramada and had no issues whatsoever. RED LION all you left me and my family with were RED FACES...DISAPPOINTED AND DISSATISFIED. HOPE IT GETS BETTER BY THE TIME WE RETURN AGAIN....IF WE EVEN RETURN AT ALL
Hotel experience was great but best part of our visit hands down was Paul Newman, our bartender at Castaways bar and grill. Great customer service, would highly recommend!! Will definitely be back again!
This guy is the best bartender for social events! Go here, it is great! Thanks for the fun!!!! His advice is the real deal, happy st patty day! His drink selection and recommendations made our night! Make a visit anytime you can!
Stayed here Saturday night 3/11/17. Below are a list of the Pros I found after staying here: • Great centralized Omaha location with quick access to downtown • Quiet comfortable rooms. Found the room to be clean. Despite all the families with children staying here, I did not wake up once to noise in the hallways or anything such as this. • The “Commons Area” was great. Nice life-size chess board and plenty of seating to just hang out. However, on a busy weekend such as the one we experienced, I did not see it getting used very much. Seems like a huge space that maybe could be potentially used for something that draws more people. • The arcade was great. • Had Sunday morning breakfast at Castaways. The service here was fantastic. We all got the breakfast buffet. Adults $12.95, kids $8.95. The food was ok. Good selection. I feel the price could have been a little less expensive. Very nice staff and highly attentive. Was worth eating here versus loading everyone up and trying to find a spot off-premises. List of So-sos • Coco-Key water resort was ok. Nothing great, but not horrible either. I think the need to stock more tubes for the slide and lazy river, and maybe not allow people to just walk the lazy river. My kids found it annoying that people walking the lazy river would be agitated that someone in a tube would come up behind them and bump them. It isn’t like you can control the speed or direction much with those. But, the people walking the river far outnumbered the people in tubes. It isn’t a walking/running track. List of Cons: • Check-in process at 3:30pm was an absolute nightmare. There were probably at least 50-60 people in line to check in with 3 people running the desk. The people working did not appear to be working all that fast. Stood in line for 45+ minutes just to check-in. Never in my life have I stayed at a hotel with such a long line to check in. I understand it was Spring Break and the hotel is popular during this time, but it seemed unorganized and slow. People with reservations had to wait behind people with no reservations while the staff would search for rooms for them. Looking at previous reviews, the check-in process seems to be a problem-point for this hotel, not just during spring break. We had tickets to a play in downtown Omaha for a 5pm show and we barely made it in time. After checking in, we had to bolt right to the play without going to our room first. It would have been nice to unload our vehicle and change into nicer clothes, but we didn’t plan for a 45-50 minute check-in process either. • I found there to be a lot of trash sitting around in places. People that left cups and wrappers just lying around in the commons area and other places. Little pieces of trash/wrappers littered some of the hallways. My suggestion is to have someone constantly walk around and pick this up. With all the kids staying here, I can see where this would be a big problem. It is unfortunate that many people are such slobs and don’t respect property. In summary, I would definitely stay here again. I wasn’t “wowed” by the experience by any means, but I think if they tightened some things down and made sure the property always appears “top-notch”, it will go a very long way. Management needs to find a more efficient and faster process for check-in.
Long lines to check in to hotel. Very unorganized. Very slow check in. Did water park no towels. So crowded to many people over occupancy. Haven't got checked in yet been waiting over 30 minutes line hasn't moved.
Never again. Our family purchased a groupon for CoCo Key water resort and hotel and decided to go a night early, reserving 2 rooms. When I called to reserve an extra room and to inquire about a cabana rental, I left several messages and called ten times before someone answered the phone. I never received a call back about the cabana rental. When we arrived, we had to drive around for awhile because we couldn’t locate the Ramada, as advertised on our groupon and facebook page. I finally went into the waterpark and asked where to go and was informed the hotel changed it’s name to RL Hotel. I stood in line waiting to get checked in for 30 minutes, got our room key, walked in and discovered half drank Gatorade bottles and a broken lock on the bathroom door. I went back and asked for a different room and requested a suite, as the rooms were so small. The lady told me she thought she could get that for free as an upgrade, asked her manager, and found out she couldn’t offer me that. We moved to a suite, at the full price rate, and our kids were delighted to see a very inviting commons area with a huge chess game, fun pillows and seating areas, family games and legos on shelves next to a huge table to play them on, and a coffee bar! After we checked into the suite, we noticed a sign stating that “children are not allowed in commons after 6”. Really?? For a hotel that is connected to a family waterpark and profits from our children using the facility, our kids can’t hang out with their parents and play a game or relax? I can see asking the kids to be supervised, but to not allow AT ALL is crazy. I talked to the front desk about it and was informed that as long as the kids were respectful, not loud, and we were with them, they would be fine. Great…except until the security officer kicked the kids out and we had to explain to our kids that the lady lied to us. On Saturday night, they had an hour of free live music on their little stage in the commons area. My friend and I sat at the bar and had a drink while our kids ate pizza in our room...did I mention they told us the kids couldn’t have outside food or drink in the lobby? Or anywhere but our room?? Never had an experience at any other hotel where my kids couldn’t sit in a common area to eat. Anyway, while we were catching up at the bar, some lady from the hotel scolded us and told us to “hush because this was a live recording”. What? We were simply talking. This hotel caters to promoting free local music and NOT to their paying guests. Sunday morning, I went out to get a coffee and to read the free newspaper they claim to offer on their website only to find no papers, anywhere. I went back to shower and used the hair dryer provided for the first time that weekend only to discover the only way to turn it on and off was to plug it in and unplug it, as the buttons were broke. Huge safety concern. For a hotel that advertises a game room, family friendly environment and that children are welcome, that is exactly the OPPOSITE feeling we had the entire weekend. We would go to CoCo Key again, but never the hotel, ever. They did give me one night free due to our very negative experience, so that was a plus. The only other positive was Christina, the bartender…she was friendly, bubbly, fun, and made a great Cosmo! Which I needed…..
Took 20+ mins to check in. Shower in room was barely a trickle. Our room was by the commons, they play elevator music all night in that area making it hard to sleep. They allow pets, dogs in the room next to ours barked a lot. Restaurant was out of almost everything. We ordered 3 meals with salads, my salad never showed up, the waiter had forgotten my order. Coco Keys was pricey and not fantastic. Overall really disappointed. Won't stay here again. Paid $230 for 2 stay then even more on top for the water park. Didn't expect this many problems for that kind of money.
It seems a lot had been done to make the place look nice. The lobby and common area. But all the good thing stop there. Check in experience was like getting checked into prison (not that I have that experience myself). There was no courtesy to guests whatsoever. People were on their cellphone and it took over 10 minutes to check in when there was no one waiting but us. We got to the room and the toilet has urine on it. We were too tired to call anyone so we cleaned it up and inspected the rest of the room. So gross.
For what we paid to stay there, we could have stayed at a much nicer hotel in Omaha. You are paying to be able to walk to the massive indoor waterpark and stay inside - which is definitely a nice feature if you have kids. The hotel feels very detached - you check into the front and then drive down to the back side for your room. We never interfaced with any more staff after that, so it was a bit strange overall. Rooms were actually not terrible, they looked like they have been updated recently. No breakfast, hallways were dingy and very dimly lit. The only reason we stayed here was for CocoKey, and I would imagine that the majority of guests would conclude the same. If you aren't going to the waterpark, I would highly advise picking a different hotel as you are paying for that convenience. Thanks and good luck!
wondering if this was due to the fact it's changing hands? had a reservation over a month in advance, with an email confirmation number. however, they "didn't have a reservation for me" when we got there. so, didn't get our preferred room type. we were supposedly given a special rate and comped wristbands to compensate, but then found out were actually overcharged from my promised rate. we paid dramatically more per square foot for this room than many other, nicer properties and without the perks of happy hour or breakfast.
