It was the worst experience in this hotel my recervetion was for 4 nights and I left the next day of my stay I told them if they could give a refund for the other 3 night but they were not responding. This hotel is old and it really need repairs they charge to much money for a place that you can even relax

Not clean at all.lots of noise from rooms next door. Insect crawling in bathroom

Hotel did not match the pictures we saw online, totally different

Wasn't pleasant. The hotel itself is very unprofessional and doesn't have much to offer.

I have been here for a week now. I red all the reviews after I booked the room and was a bit worried what I would find. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel and a luxurious place, than this is not for you. All I wanted was a clean comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. I got both, the rooms have air condition and are of good size, Yes it is outdated and needs a makeover but overall I am happy with my stay. The staff in the check in office are so friendly and helpful. Whenever I need anything they respond immediately, either by phone or in person. They have complementary breakfast which is a plus free wifi, housekeeping and parking. Great security and walking distance to Lake Merritt. I guess this hotel can be what ever you want it to be. Its all how you look at things. Its not for everyone, but for me and my family the price was good and it met all my needs.

Booked thru Orbitz. I requested non smoking room. Agent informed me a $50 deposit upon check in. I arrived and checked in, front desk asked me $200 deposit. [different from Orbitz info] Front desk smells weed, checked in the door of room 312 stuck signs of repairs, was very difficult to open will take 5minutes tapping with magnetic card key, hallway lights busted, room smells weed and smokes, refrigerator smells cheap air freshener sprayed in it, bathroom smells muddy smoky /weed , towels had female long hairs, rugs are sticky, Breakfast- serving bagels, coffee and biscuits- hard frozen and coffee taste like water,

I did not like the hotel. the staff do anything very slowly.

Do not stay here they have bed bugs. Have yet to hear back from the manager about a full refund for our room. We had to check out early, causing us a massive in inconvenience to our plans. Hotel staff giving us the run around about getting through to a manager. Waste of our money, didn't even get to sleep here.

Room was very dirty, not vacuumed at all. Curtains were not closing. No towels, no soap. Doors were peeling. Breakfast was over by 8.30AM though it said until 10am. I booked 2 queens, but they are actually full beds. Hotel staff was horrible. They have not enough towels in front desk. Inspite of asking, they did hove xleaning service second day. Name any issue, this hotel had all that issues. A very terrible experience, I will not take this hotel even if it is offered free on future. Will never think of Americas best value Inn my life time.

I had a event in Oakland,ca I stayed here the night before to avoid the long traffic commute. Front desk girl was polite but if no one was checking in then she was outside hanging out with security so wasn't able to answer my front desk call. Very close to lake Merritt which is a huge plus, keeps unwanted people off property, pretty nice inside and out. Would stay here again but not sure for the $100 I paid.

Many things transpired during our 4 day/3 night stay that would be enough to make anyone crazy. After checking in, we noticed there was melted candle wax in various spots in the room - on the carpet, furniture, even in the bathroom. The first night we thought there might have been an exorcism in our room performed by the previous customers until we opened a drawer to put our clothes into and found an open box of condoms. Yes, the bed was made, but was our room really *cleaned* prior to our arrival? I don't think so. We had towels on the day we arrived, but every day after we had to get them from the front desk. On the second day I asked why our room hadn't been cleaned and why we hadn't gotten towels and was told we needed to hang the sign on the door. Why weren't we told that upon arrival? On the next day we hung the sign outside and came back to an unclean room and no towels. Then we called on our last night to request late check out. We got a call back in our room and were told that the night staff was leaving a note for the morning manager so imagine our surprise when three different housekeepers knocked on our door BEFORE normal checkout time and the manager tried to enter our room while we were showering. Thank god we put the latch on the door otherwise she would have been in our room while we were showering and changing. Instead, I had the absolute pleasure of having to talk to her while wearing a hotel towel. Do not recommend. Ever.

The room had a strong smoke odor though it was a non smoking room. Every single towel provided was not clean and had hairs in them. The first room that was provided was not even cleaned up after the previous person had vacated. The staff member was nice though.

This hotel needs an entire overhaul...if you are used to staying in the inns that are musty and sort of clean then this would be ok for u. The musty smell just is too much. Also I think I saw a hooker hanging out in the parking lot.

not safe at night, need to have better up keep with new paint and better sacurity

Check in was a breeze but when i got to my room ( which was a none smoking room) smelt like cigs and had a bad smell ... My room came without a phone and the toilet overflowed which means they had to switch my rooms out. The house keepers didnt seem to concerned they expected me to stay in the same room. After being switch to another room it still had the smell but toilet worked .No hot water for the showers and still no working phone. Hotel needs to be up to date. But it was near where i needed to be and close by the lake . Fix these problems and the hotel will be great i guess

Arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm to find the parking blocked off with a makeshift barrier. The clerk at the front desk told me the parking lot was full and I would have to leave my car on the street. The area was clearly NOT safe and the security guard was not patrolling around the building so I was worried my car might be broken into overnight. I told the clerk I wanted to cancel my reservation and I would find somewhere else to stay. However, the clerk said I would have to wait to speak with the manager in the morning so I reluctantly stayed the night. In the room there were three lamps. Two did not hive light bulbs and the third was burned out. So the only light was one mounted on the wall operated by the switch at the door. I checked out first thing next morning and would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

This hotel rents rooms by the week/month and was a gathering spot for illegal activities, including drug dealing and prostitution. Myself and my daughter witnessed both in plain sight in daytime hours. Other issues included dismal breakfast, too few towels and a musty smell, but that was inconsequential compared with a strong feeling of being unsafe.

My stay was for 3 nights. This does not permit me enough words to tell my whole story so long story short, upon check in I had an issue with my room and requested a change asap, only to be beguiled by the front desk staff and the general manager, Sean for the entirety of my stay. They never changed my room, apologized for the issue, or offered any sign of care, customer service, or hospitality, on which, I believed the hotel industry is based.

The place was nice and clean. And the hotel staff was nice and quick on everything.

traffic place is very convient. however it is too expensive for a hotel like this. bathroom is so small and no one clean our room next day..breakfast is good for us and staff is nice
