I arrived somewhat late at night and the front desk person couldn't have been more welcoming or personable, which is always a nice touch after being on the road for a while. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a sign in the parking lot about trespassing as well as not being responsible for items you may leave in your vehicle but I did not observe any sketchy persons or have any issues during my stay. The fitness center, like most I encounter is minimal with only a few pieces of cardio equipment and light dumbbells. If you are looking for restaurants to walk to, you are out of luck. There is a Cracker Barrel and Waffle House close, but no sidewalks so you would have to walk on the Frontage Road and then cross the busy Evangeline Throughway. Overall, it was an average Fairfield property, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
I’m lifetime platinum. Hotel is just south of the interstate on the service road of MLK. Arrived about 8pm and at my turn 1/2 mile from the hotel there was an abandoned gas station with several sketchy guys hanging out. About 200 yards from the hotel I had to stop because 2 guys were fighting in the road. Not kidding. Big sign at the entrance to the parking lot says if you’re on their property and not a guest you’ll be charged with trespassing. Why put that up if you don’t need it? Left to get something to eat later and someone who was so wasted they could barely walk was walking in front of the hotel. Nearest place I found was Taco Bell and I didn’t want to go in anywhere. There are no sit down restaurants nearby and the area feels industrial and really poor. I have no idea why they put a hotel here. Check in wasn’t great. I tried to be cheery and talkative, the person was gruff and distant. Room was fine. Clean, everything worked and no issues. Good internet. Bed and linens were good. The stay was good once I got in the hotel but the area around it was scary. I was glad my vehicle was there the next morning and in one piece.
My Husband and I stayed at this Fairfield 11/30/17 on our way from delivering FEMA trailers to TX, and it was a nice stay. The staff was amazing. Once we entered the room... a horrible smell of wet carpet or moldy, wet air hit us in the face. It had a smell in the halls as well, but it's covered up by some air freshener. The bed was a little too hard for me but still slept good. We left at 4:15am so we didn't have breakfast. We opened our vehicle and the alarm went off, and to our surprise, security came out immediately!! Very impressed. We also witnessed a local police officer riding through other hotel parking lots. Thank you Fairfield for a good night stay. We will definitely stay again.
We had reserved an overnight stay here for the Festivals de Acadiens. During the festival, we had a medical problem around 1 p.m. that required an early check-in @ the hotel. Brenda, the front desk clerk, was extremely helpful, understanding, and friendly as she checked us in. This hotel is in a convenient area near I-10 & I-49 and only 3 miles from the ULL campus. Our room, #300, was closest to the frontage road so there was a little road noise (thankfully helped by our white noise machine), but u could request a room further away from the road. The room was clean & contained a fridge & microwave. There is free Wi-Fi & an indoor pool as well as a complimentary hot breakfast. Their policy of no pets or smoking was appreciated.
Breakfast run by great personnel. Hot, flavorful and very attentive. Two kinds of sausage, fruit, scrambled eggs same stuff most others have, but this food was actually very tasty. Next time I'm back in Lafayette, I'll stay at this property.
Looks like a newish property. Very well equipped room, upgraded to a nice suite. All the usual good stuff from Fairfield - decent enough breakfast, laundry room and basic fitness centre. The very good front desk staff made this a stand out stay for me. Got an excellent recommendation for dinner across the lot at The Holiday Inn with free drinks voucher. Great value and far better quality meal than I had imagined at HI. This week stayed at 4 different Fairfield's. All at least very good. This one top standard made by desk staff on evening of my arrival and departure. Also the usual warm and friendly lady server at breakfast time. Great motel model. Wish there was something half as good in the UK.
I write this review in particular for the dedication and service of the Staff at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Lafayette Louisiana just off Interstate 10. This trip was an unexpected trip to Texas to rescue my parents (both in their 80s) from the floods associated with Hurricane Harvey. My sister and I left Atlanta early Sunday Morning, September 3rd. to get to our parents who had been evacuated from their home on Friday, August 25th. The water was receding and we were able to get into the house. Enough on my parents for now; lets get back to the Fairfield Inn. As we were traveling we knew that we were going to have to stop in Lafayette Louisiana on Sunday night. I was able to access my Marriott account on line and was able to secure a room using my travel points. When I checked into the Fairfield I noticed that there were many displaced people in the hotel who had been seeking shelter at the Fairfield. When I shared my circumstances with the staff, they immediately offered support to us for the evening. They provided us with items from the market and made sure we had everything we needed for the evening. They were genuinely concerned with us and were very supportive to us. I noticed that they were equally concerned with the other hotel guests who were displaced from the flood waters that affected Lafayette. The Staff was wonderful. When we got up the next morning and went to eat breakfast, the same staff members were there helping hotel guests with their breakfast. We were heading on to Houston. The staff made arrangement for us to have a bag of snacks, fruit and drinks to take with us on the journey to Texas. They were so helpful and sincere in their service to us and to the others in the Hotel. We arrived at my Mom and Dad's house late Monday afternoon and it was devastating to see their house. They had 4 1/2 feet of water in their house and lost practically everything they owned. It was heart wrenching for us and for them to have to move all their possession to the street so that the house could be salvaged for rebuilding. They lost a lifetime of items and memories. For those of you who pray, please pray for them, James and Evelyn, as we try and rebuild their lives in Georgia. The second part of the story continues on Thursday, September 7th when we were heading back to Atlanta with my parents and the little possessions we could salvage. I made reservations at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Lafayette Louisiana that afternoon, not knowing if there were any rooms available. To our surprise, several families had checked out that morning and there were two (2) rooms next to each other in the hotel. We left late afternoon on Thursday because we had to out run Hurricane Irma before it made landfall. We didn't get to the hotel until 1:15am and our rooms were still available. When I walked into the lobby, those same Staff members who I had met earlier were there and were actually glad to see me back. When I told them that I had my Mom and Dad with us they sprang to work to make them feel comfortable and cared for. They treated my parents with love and respect and really cared for them. Later on that morning, around 8:30am we went to breakfast and several of the staff came over to make sure we had all we needed. Again they let us pack a bag of snacks and drinks for our long trip back to Atlanta. I tell you all this because the Staff at the Fairfield Inn & Suites just off Interstate 10 in Lafayette Louisiana went far and beyond caring for us and the other Disaster Victims. They are to be commended for their service to others during the disasters. What more can I say but "Thank God for the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Lafayette Louisiana."
First, I travel a lot and always stay at Marriott's (Gold Elite), so I'm a little spoiled to what to expect from Marriott hotels. With that said, the room had a bad, wet carpet smell, so much they had a humidifier in the room. Since I knew they were sold out due to Hurricane Irma evacs we decided to just deal with it. When our room was cleaned, they didn't refill our bath items (soaps, lotions, etc), only pulled the covers up on the bed, didn't empty humidifier (had to do it twice myself), and just laid out new towels on the toilet. As far as breakfast, it's a very small area, and for the two days they were always out of everything by 9:15, and show'd no interest in refilling anything since they shut down at 10. The elevator was also down majority of the trip so we had to take luggage up and down stairs for the weekend. It's is in a convenient area to most of Lafayette especially for soccer tournaments.
My wife and I were travelling back to Texas before hurricane Harvey and thought we were stuck in Lafayette and ended up here. The staff is wonderful and so incredibly helpful. We ended up there for five nights and everyone there was so helpful. I have been to quite a few hotels but this one is by far one of the best
