I was supposed to get a high floor. I was on the 3rd floor. The room I was given was a handicap accessible room. I have no idea why I was given this type of room when I never made a request for this type of room.
We only spent one night after a delayed transatlantic flight and missed connection in NY. All staff we encountered were nice and helpful. Breakfast was really good, just the room was slightly outdated and tired looking.

The Hyatt Place Garden City is a nice, midrange hotel. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. Everything seemed very new (nothing run down). There was free self-parking. They have a free continental breakfast. There wasn't much vegan there, but fortunately there is a Whole Foods across the street. My room was very quiet, with a desk to work at as well as a sofa. It worked out great to stay here after a concert at Jones Beach.
Property is okay. Nothing grand. At 11pm the fire alarm went off throughout the hotel. Only a few people took it seriously, others stayed in their room and didn’t bother to even check if it was real. Turned out someone was smoking in their room and it went off.
We had the best frint desk person John. He helped us at check in, figuring out uber and just going above and beyond to help and answer questions we had.
The location
Hyatt provided a beautiful, calm and comfortable hotel experience. Everything was excellent. My only disappointment was that they don't recycle, and the breakfast buffet is full of single-use plastic and things that could be recycled.
Roosevelt Field Mall is within a mile (2 km) of Hyatt Place Garden City, and other popular sites like Long Island Children's Museum are within a couple of miles (3 km). This 122-room, 3-star hotel has conveniences like an indoor pool, a 24-hour gym, and free in-room WiFi.
