Great place to stay. After a day at a long wedding party, it felt like coming home. Room was clean, comfortable and a pleasure to be in.
Having stayed at Hawthorn in 2015, we returned in 2017 only to find the establishment in a much poorer condition. Our first room had a foul odor and, while the second was better, it still smelled from cigarette smoke. Friday and Saturday nights saw much activity, with people coming and going noisily until 4:30 am. We complained to the front desk about the yelling and partying, and were assured that the erring parties had been evicted. Nevertheless, the same thing happened the following Friday and Saturday night along with a fire alarm on both nights. Three calls to the front desk failed to stop the commotion. On one occasion, the desk clerk hung up. We checked out early Sunday morning and requested to speak with the manager. The desk clerk told us that the manager would call us but we're still waiting. We feel that we should be at least reimbursed for the charge on the last night for we simply did not get any sleep.
Although the place was located and priced right ( used Wyndham rewards points ). The hotel is a little dated. I did get a good night's rest and the place was clean.
If it wasn't 11 pm we wouldn't have stayed. Dirty, no linens, towels, and kitchenette wasn't furnished and what was... Wasn't clean. No one was helpful as they were under staffed. Avoid at all costs
For the price I paid this hotel was ok but I have stayed at other Hawthorn Suite locations and they are usually cleaner and not so tired looking. The room size is excellent and had all the amenities of home so is great for travelling.
I would not stay at this hotel again they ignored your requests and I felt like they didn't care that we were there. I feel like a new manager should be put in this hotel it could turn around but most people in this hotel didn't care about the customer.
The reservation was for my son, David. The hotel denied that a Free to Go reservation was ever made. He had to pay for all of the nights with his credit card. Total disaster that Wyndham Rewards seemed unable to resolve.
Stayed here on a family trip because it was close to The Henry Ford. Though the suite was huge, it was so run down that I was embarrassed that I chose it for my family (broken lamps, scuffed walls, smoke smell, and more). After discovering that our tv didn't work, we had to call the front office at least 5 times and visit in person before anyone came to look at it. On top of that, there were some really noisy groups outside at night, which ended with a couple fighting and swearing so loudly that I thought about calling the police. I generally have pretty low expectations when it comes to this kind of thing but I would have chosen something less convenient if I had know the quality here.
This was the nastiest hotel I have come across in my life. I was transferred to 3 different rooms and they all were equally disgusting. The front desk associate was extremely accommodating and nice. She was about the only thing nice about that hotel. She was so nice that she moved me to their "business side" and then to their "corporate side". Not sure who would opt to conduct any business at this hotel or any corporation that would subject their employees to this but it was so ridiculous I drove to Southfield to get as far away as I could and stay in a MUCH BETTER QUALITY hotel. The couches were SOILED, the mattresses were SEVERELY STAINED and there were FLIES and GNATS in every room! Not to mentioned I was greeted by a large bag of trash at my doorstep by the first room that I went too. There was also a bug cruising around the headboard in one of the rooms. I definitely would not have been surprised if someone had been murdered in one of those rooms because they were so creepy and dusty and nasty. I could go on .. but there's no need. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Every part of our room was filthy. I was forced to purchase cleaning supplies. It was hit or miss if the housekeeper came at all. Garbage cans in the parking lot were overflowing. In the evenings a group of cars would take up residence in the lot littering, smoking weed and selling drugs while kids swam and played basketball nearby. The manager was inaccessible leaving the desk staff to deal with angry guests.
