The busiest airport in Iceland is Keflavík International. Located around 30 miles southwest of Reykjavik and two miles from the small town of Keflavik, it’s the main entry point for international passengers traveling to the country. The most regular flights from the US to Iceland depart from New York and Boston while Seattle-Tacoma, Washington-Dulles and Denver also offer regular direct services.

Buses and taxis connect the airport to Reykjavik and destinations in the surrounding area.

The main domestic airport serving the Icelandic capital is Reykjavik Airport. Located just over a mile from a city center, if offers regular services to the country’s regional air hubs.

If you’re traveling to the north of the country, you may well touch down at Akureyri Airport. An important center for fishing, Akureyri is a great destination for those who want to experience an authentic slice of Icelandic life.
