Beautiful Getaway

The property is wonderfully idyllic and peaceful. Loved the screened-in porch and would sit out in the early morning hours and watch the deer, herons, cranes,bunnies, etc. Wish that we could have stayed longer!!

Incredible weekend at a perfect house. This is one of the best homes we have ever stayed in: clean, perfectly laid out, well stocked kitchen and all the yard games and puzzles you could ever need. We all slept in as the beds were so comfortable with soft sheets. And the library has a great wide variety of books to dive into. We had the best weekend and wish he had been able to stay longer.

Wonderful long weekend

The house and property are beautiful. The house has a lot of historical charm but a lot of the modern amenities. The bedrooms are huge and lots of great common spaces, including the screened in front porch. The hosts were gracious and very responsive. Great stay and definitely would come again.

Fantastic Property and Hosts

This owners have done a fantastic job of renovating this historic home. Very comfortable to relax and enjoy the home, property and surrounding areas. The house is well stocked with supplies and hosts are very responsive with any questions and offer wonderful in site to the area. We love it here! Thank you for hosting us.

Beautiful home with lots of Extras!

We have stayed at many VRBO properties and this rated among the best! The house was beautiful, clean and there were so many extra touches, like plenty of towels, table clothes, spices, and even bottles of wine, that made the trip and our time there extra special. We plan to return!

River Fun

This is a remote, quiet, spacious home located on a river cove offering wonderful sunsets. The beautiful huge oaks and wraparound porchs transport you back to lazy summer days. The Mobjack Bay village is quaint and tiny. Perfect place for a quiet getaway.

Wonderful vacation home

Shadyhurst is a beautiful home and the property is amazing. Our family came from Tennessee, and we spent a peaceful week enjoying our time together. The home was very clean and the owners have done a wonderful job anticipating anything that you would need during your stay. Do not hesitate to book this home--you won't be disappointed.

House in Mathews, VA

The home is lovely and super clean. The host was very helpful. Our only negative was the distance to the attractions, restaurants and Williamsburg. If you are looking for a quiet and ,relaxing stay this house would be perfect.

Fantastic Home!!

Listing exactly as stated and more!. Water access truly adds to the experience. Hosts were the most responsive we have had in over ten years. Plenty large enough for 6 adults and 4 elementary age grandchildren. Would love to go back again.

Spring break

Beautiful house, very clean and very well equipped. Great beds and linens. We had a very nice trip even though it was much colder than we expected. Would be lovely to go back in the summer and try kayaking. The location is beautiful but a bit out of the way. Great for relaxing!

Peaceful Escape

Beautiful home and property. I felt like I had stepped back in time. The house was very well stocked with every attention to detail with plenty of room. The perfect place to unwind and connect with family. A great vacation with lots of kayaking, swimming and relaxing by nearby rivers!

Gorgeous Beautifully appointed home

Stayed here on our annual girls trip. Couldn’t be happier. The most well appointed kitchen I have ever cooked in in a VRBO house. Gorgeous hardwood floors, beautiful yard with lovely live oak trees, gracious and accommodating hosts. Three stories with lots of space and fabulous linens, and the best pillows I’ve ever slept on. Cannot recommend it highly enough

Charming coastal farmhouse

My family was looking for a property near Williamsburg for my mother’s birthday that could house all of us. The home fit the bill and totally exceeded our expectations. The home was well appointed and we spent most of the time chatting on the screened in porch or working on puzzles. The hosts were responsive and were nice enough to leave a few gifts for us. Wish we could have stayed for a week because we were having so much fun on the property. Highly recommend for folks looking for a nice retreat on the coast!

A perfect family escape

We were looking for a quiet family getaway for 6 people where we could enjoy the outdoors and the bay. This couldn't have been a better choice. The owners are very friendly and very reachable. The house and its history are great. Very clean. We rented kayaks and launched from the private pier. Caught crabs and fish for dinners. Very relaxing, highly recommend.

College Reunion Getaway with Friends

We had a wonderful stay here!! The house and property are just gorgeous. The house is newly renovated and decorated beautifully. It is fully stocked with everything you need (kitchen supplies, towels, linens etc.). The beds are really comfortable. The outside seating is ample and really enjoyable (by the water, in an enclosed deck, and on the front porch). Daniele and Michael are wonderful hosts -- very responsive and generous too (we were greeted with some lovely welcome gifts). I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for family gatherings, reunions, or just a nice getaway.
