The first thing we noticed each morning after walking outside was the paper mill smell. I understand it is strong in the winter and in the warm months the city smells like the oil refinery. Traveled on business and commuted downtown. The check-in was a little messed up, but front desk staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is within walking distance of decent eating options. There are renovations in-process. I don't know if my room was not renovated yet, but it was disappointing vs. other Hamptons. Not well-lit, even with all lights on. The layout of the desk away from the TV meant I used the bed for work on the laptop. It didn't look like a typical Hampton room layout, so my suspicion is that it used to be a different chain. The bathroom is large, but relatively empty. The bathroom especially was in need of touching up with minor issues like the toilet not well connected to the wall and a slow-draining sink. The managers reception was nice and unique to the southern US Hamptons where I've stayed. They were supposed to have beer available, but each night it was not out. One morning the breakfast was not out - apparently that staff person couldn't make it in. Hotel was full and had many Harvey disaster workers, especially from the Corps of Engineers. We all thought the same thing: this is probably a nice hotel for Beaumont.
The property is being renovated which is needed after hurricane Harvey and nonstop full occupancy. Still a lot of guests related to Harvey (FEMA, construction workers, etc.). Hard to get a room and the renovations will make it even more difficult. Solid value and a great location on I-10. Movie theater and a selection of places to eat are very close, some within walking distance.
We regularly stay at Hampton Inns and enjoy the quality. We do not recall ever staying in quite such a noisy location with the interstate running close by. This could be solved with better sound insulation. We would have given a higher rating thanks to the facilities of the room, good breakfast and friendly service but due to the noise problem we have rated it only as average. Curtains that completely black out the light would also be an advantage.
Had water leak in the bathroom. Ended up moving rooms. Presumably because of the renovations happening. Friend had leak in their bathroom also. Heard other people saying their bathroom sink and tub wouldnt drain. Not sure when renovs will be done, but be mindful of this.
Stayed at the Hampton Inn on business. Room toilet seat was yellow with epoxy filler in seat. Sink faucet leaks when turned on. Shower curtain rod angled so when curtain was drawn it would not stay closed there water on bathroom floor. I realize Beaumont was decimated by the hurricane. However NONE of these issues was related to this event. None were corrected during my stay. I emailed the general manger and front desk was informed. None were addressed during my stay.
We usually always stay at this property when traveling to Beaumont for business. The rooms are dated but are being renovated. The price of rooms is reasonable compared to other area properties. The staff is always friendly and efficient. The beds are comfortable.
Wonderful staff, everything was A+. The morning cook for breakfast did an outstanding job. Very helpful. Hotel under renovations, but did not cause any inconvience to me. Rooms clean and staff helpful.
I called in advance to see if the room was ready and was delayed every time. When we arrived, the welcome was not enthusiastic at all, but we checked in fairly quickly, given that we had already done so online, I feel some updates on the readiness of the room should have been available. The bathroom was only so-so. We got a room with double beds. As such I believe there should have been some extra towels available, but we got the bare minimum of two. The room was ok. This is an older hotel and seemingly under renovation, so I hope in the future it will be a comfier stay. The breakfast was a disaster. Not enough food to go around. If we had waffles, there was no syrup. The kitchen staff was mingling in the back instead of checking the buffet line. At some point we had to ask for forks, because they were out. The juice machine had a puddle of juice in the holder, making it not only yuck, but not very appetizing. The ham and eggs were runny and the choices in breads were two. I supposed for a free breakfast I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but when that is a selling point to booking this particular hotel versus any other in the area, this piece of the puzzle was an easy fix. The coffee was out and when we asked for hot water, the front desk person brought us exactly the cup we wanted. The tea choices were non-existent and forget about honey or lemon. They did however have regular sugar. I have stayed at numerous Hampton Inn locations throughout the country and I always do so because I enjoy the homey feel. This one I am not crazy about and for this reason I would have to reconsider my next stay in the Beaumont area.
If you are needing a special needs room this is the place to stay. The room is very well equipped, spacious, and the cleaning staff keep it very clean. Great for business stays. The whole experience of staying there for several days, was a peaceful and stress free experience.
The room was very clean other than there were a few ladybugs that were throughout the room. The staff was great, friendly and greeted me with a smile. They would have moved my room, but the inn was full. I also did not receive my Hampton/Hilton 100% refund guarantee.
