Travel from Dallas to New York City
Flights between Dallas and New York City are popular with both business and pleasure travelers. New York boasts cultural attractions, sports teams, theater events, and a fast-paced business district. Use Orbitz.com to find great deals when traveling from Dallas to New York City.
Dallas, Texas
The second-largest city in Texas, Dallas is a hive of business and cultural attractions, including a thriving telecom corridor, vibrant central business area and one of the most-lauded hospital districts in the state. Dallas is served by two local airports: Love Field and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Travelers from Dallas Love Field are restricted by the Wright Amendment and cannot travel beyond an area encompassing Texas and surrounding states without connecting flights. Wright Amendment restrictions will expire in 2014, allowing commencement of nonstop service from Love Field to domestic locations like New York City. Currently, flyers who prefer the small airport atmosphere of Love Field can use Southwest Airlines to reach New York City's LaGuardia airport with connections in either Chicago or Baltimore. Love Field is located just north of downtown Dallas and is easily reached by taxis and local DART bus and rail service. Short- and long-term parking is available at the terminal and at remote lots on and off airport property.
The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is serviced by dozens of airlines and is located midway between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. American Airlines and Delta Airlines offer many direct flights between DFW and New York's JFK and LaGuardia airports each day, often hourly. Additional airlines offer air ticket deals between Dallas and New York with connecting flights. Dozens of eating and shopping opportunities are available in each of DFW's five terminals, including both local and national chains. Travelers can reach DFW via taxi, bus service from the Trinity Railway Express station, or local DART and T bus service. Terminal parking and short- and long-term remote lots on and off airport property are available, as well as terminal valet service.
New York City
New York City, comprising of the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island, is the most populous city in the United States and the home of the United Nations, the Broadway theater district, Wall Street, and the New York Stock Exchange. More than 50 million business and pleasure travelers flock to New York City every year.
Experience New York City
Travelers from Dallas to New York City may arrive at JFK or LaGuardia airport or at nearby Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey. Taxi, train, and bus service is available between each airport and the five boroughs. Rental car services are also available at each of New York's airports, but most travelers prefer mass transit or taxis due to the expense and scarcity of parking in New York City, especially in Manhattan. New York experiences cold winters with below-freezing temperatures and several snowstorms per season. In the summer, temperatures may reach the low 90s and the city can experience high humidity and coastal rainstorms including infrequent tropical storms and hurricanes. Spring and autumn weather is generally mild, with daily temperatures ranging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
New York City offers more theatres, museums and cultural attractions than any other destination in the United States. The Broadway theatre district is comprised of more than three dozen theatres offering popular and well-known plays and musicals, often with celebrity A-list performers. Concerts and live events are available daily at Carnegie Hall and at various venues at the Lincoln Center. Cultural enthusiasts can visit the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero also attracts many visitors each year.
New York's Central Park covers almost 900 acres and is located in the center of Manhattan. The Central Park Zoo, many ponds and lakes, the Jackie Onassis Reservoir, and the Central Park Conservatory Garden are just a few of the attractions in this large urban park. Popular museums like the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History and the Brooklyn Children's Museum are must-see attractions while in New York City. New York is also home to many professional sports teams including the New York Yankees and New York Mets (baseball), New York Giants and New York Jets (football), New York Rangers (hockey), Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks (basketball), and New York Red Bulls (soccer).
