Worst stay ever

This was the worst place we’ve stayed at in yucca valley since we started coming here. There’s no easy way to say what was wrong because we noticed a lot of things wrong. Firstly we noticed a lot of dog hairs everywhere, from the living room to kitchen to the dining table and the beds. We were happy to see the property had a grill however the grill was really dirty and our plan to make hotdogs fell through. Getting into the garage was easy at first the combination was easy to put in. However Saturday afternoon the combination stopped working. We were looking forward to playing air hockey but we noticed that the electrical wire for the table was cut. The garage was also really dirty, we found dead cockroaches. Taking the cover off the hot tub we realized the water was really dirty. We emptied out the water and refilled it but there was a leak by one of the pipes of the machine, which did not allow the tub to rise. One of the main reasons we chose this property is for the telescope, we were very disappointed when we realized it was missing. Washing dishes we quickly saw that something was obstructing the sink. The garbage disposal did not work, the obstruction was so bad that we had to reach in and take out what seemed to be some kind of paper, food waste, as well as hair. As previously stated the garage door was not working. Looking around we found a lock box with keys inside, the box was completely open, we were unable to close it.

The photos seriously oversell this rental. When we alerted the host of the issues, they responded each time with a 'cut and paste' response of "I'd be upset, too" but zero action taken for any remedy. Kitchen : No dish soap/dishwasher pods. All containers under the sink are empty. We made dinner with no way to clean dishes for breakfast.No hand soap. No washcloths, dishtowels, no paper towels. General filth and several broken drawers.Backyard:Tons of tiny, sharp, spiky pieces cover the ground.They got stuck in our feet, shoes, and our dogs' paws. Just terrible. Grill:Ants swarming inside the grill. Was planning on burning them off but the grill wouldn’t start — appears unusable.Air Hockey Table:Power cord is frayed or cut.Was going to send a photo for verification but couldn't access the garage again. A red “X” showing on the combination panel (dead battery) so there was no using these amenities.Missing fence panels. Mop left out in the yard.“Hot tub” is a one-person unit with old, discolored water and is partially collapsed. Missing ceiling fan remote in middle bedroom. No way to way to turn it on. The host asked for pictures. We sent them but nothing was done.Listing shows a telescope, but there isn’t one. I have since read that other guests have pointed this out long ago but they continue to false advertise. We were over charged. SO MUCH trouble to get that corrected. Host said we would be "compensated" for other issues. We were not.

This is in completed disrepair.

Review of Desert Gold Playhaus

The property has some really great features. However, one of the things that attracted me to this property was the Star Gazing deck and telescope. We had booked a stargazing tour and we were looking forward to using the telescope that was advertised to locate the stars we had seen on our tour. Unfortunately, there was no telescope currently available. In addition, there were some minor inconveniences that happened during our stay. The sink backed up and we had to wait several hours for the maintenance man to come and fix the issue. The code to the door stopped working a few times. I will say that Patricia was extremely responsive and addressed the problems as quickly as she could. These kind of issues can happen anywhere so that shouldn't deter anyone from staying here.

Lovely Family Stay

This was a last minute booking for us, and Patricia made everything super easy. She was communicative and kind. The home was just lovely! We enjoyed having plenty of space to relax after a day of exploring!

Desert Oasis

We (family with ages kids 9 and 11) booked a very last minute trip (less than 24hours notice) and Patricia was super helpful and responsive in working with us and VRBO to get it booked when the website was having issues. The house is great and we appreciated the awesome outdoor space. The themed decor was well done and very inviting. It was super convenient for getting to JTNP and having this place to come back to after a long tiring day of hiking in the park was awesome and truly like a desert oasis. If we're ever in the area again we would stay here again. Thanks!

Well equipped, clean, comfortable home great for families

Patricia's property was great for our family of 4 with two young kids. The kids loved the yard with the playhouse and swings and my husband and I loved the hot tub after they were asleep in the evenings. The home was clean and well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, and bedding. The washer/dryer was an added perk we didn't think we needed but ended up really appreciating. It is a quiet neighborhood so would not be a good property for a large gathering or party but was perfect for our quiet family retreat. We spent mornings and late afternoons in Joshua Tree and came back to the home in the mid afternoon for rest and a break from the sun. Patricia checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and was very responsive. Overall would definitely recommend this property. Thanks Patricia!

Amazing, dog friendly retreat!

My husband and I took our two dogs to Patricia’s beautiful home for a “workcation” as we both work remotely, and we had the most wonderful time. A friend joined us as well and we loved the tranquility of the home and spacious back yard. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen is beautifully updated and spacious for cooking, and the backyard was heaven. Our dogs ran and played in the back yard while we enjoyed the little hot tub in the evenings. Plenty of space for work, play, and relaxing. Home was easy to find, checkin and check out was a breeze, and Patricia was very easy to communicate with and responsive. We will absolutely be staying again!

We'll Be Back

Rented this place for a family getaway to celebrate my husband's 50th, and it was all we could have hoped for. Very clean, great furniture and decor (colorful and modern), the yard was a fabulous space for the kids to have fun, and the playroom garage space was an amazing perk. Location was perfect--convenient, great proximity to park, not remote or isolated, in very safe and quiet neighborhood--and host was incredibly responsive and gracious. We're definitely hoping to make it back one day, and we've already recommended this place to several of our friends.

Best spot in Joshua Tree

Looking for a place to spend quality time with family and/or friends? Look no further! This place is simply the best, very clean and modern (and I’ve stayed at multiple houses in Joshua Tree). The back yard was incredible! It’s suitable for all ages! I’m a sucker for a beautiful night sky and this house provides a telescope/sky deck for your family/friends to enjoy! The owners were welcoming, very understanding and had lots of patience! We had a situation on the first night with ants inside the house near the sliding door connected to the back yard but the owners dropped off spray the next morning. They were very quick! If there’s any problems Patricia will handle it professionally and efficiently!

Joshua tree getaway

This was a great stay, the place was clean and had everything we needed. Close to Joshua tree and in a quite neighborhood to relax and enjoy the dark nights in Yucca Valley. The host was very attentive and communication was great. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick getaway!

Must Visit

This place is amazing! There’s Joshua tree’s all over the neighborhood/city and in front of the home. I bet its overlooked cause they didn’t mention it much in description but there’s a cute small garden area in the front with huge trees and a mini cactus. The playhouse is sooo cute and we got so many nice pictures on the round swing’s hammock and swing chairs. We just sat outside in the shaded area under the playhouse which is so colorful. It’s even nicer at night as you can see the moon and stars so clearly’; I’ve never seen so many shooting stars! We were able to use the fire pit and roast some s’mores; this is my type of camping! Patricia is so nice and was super responsive on answering our questions! During the hottest parts of the day, we hung out in the house and play some music on the record player and watched TV. We took a break from the inside and opened the garage to play some pool, ping pong and did some stretching with the yoga supplies they had there. It’s also close to 2 guys pies which has super good pizza and its close to Joshua tree coffee company for some afternoon coffee. The house matches the national park as it’s decorated with a desert feel in mind, but it still has a very modern clean touch. There are fans in every room although you don’t need it since the AC is so good even in the desert heat, but its nice to have incase you like it a little colder. Anyways this was a great stay I would highly recommend if you’re going to Jtree. I’m very happy with all the pictures we got of the house, playhouse and of all the landmarks around the place.

Awesome!

We had such a great time at this vacation rental! The location is perfectly close to the town in case you wanted to try some local food, we really liked the Mediterranean place just down the street. The national park was less than a 15-minute drive from us. After getting back from a long morning of hiking and exploring we lounged around the house. No issues checking in and Patricia is so quick to respond! There’s a digital guidebook and physical copy that makes the stay so much easier! The house is beautifully decorated with desert style art pieces, plants, and amazing furniture! There’s a cool mural of the desert in the living room which is a real eye catcher. We all hung out in the living room most of the time as it was nice, open and a great gathering spot. The mini pool/hot tub? is a great spot to cool down if it’s a hot day. There’s a tetherball setup too which brought me back to feeling like a kid again. The most amazing part of the stay was the playhouse at night. Huge swings that let you lay down and look straight up to the sky. We spent at least an hour or two out here just looking at the sky and talking. There’s also a telescope if you want to do some gazing but we just enjoyed the cool night air and seeing all the shooting stars. Definity one of my most amazing stays!!!

Memorable home with lots of fun activities! Great location.

This place was amazing!! We are regular travelers and would rate Patricia's place as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home. It was super close to the National park and other activities we did. It's also conveniently close to town which was handy as well as tasty restaurants and cafes. Communication was great! Patricia was so gracious and checked in with us to make sure we were having a good time. The backyard is absolutely amazing and the star gazing deck was one of the highlights of our trip. We got to see so many shooting stars! Our stay here was definitely worth it. We are looking forward to staying here on our next trip to Joshua Tree. I loved that my boyfriend and I were able to create some beautiful memories here because this home offered so many fun activities, from having late night talks around the fire pit, chilling in the jacuzzi/pool, and watching the stars. They even had a tether ball court which made us feel like kids again haha. Overall we would highly recommend this beautiful home to everyone!
