We’ve been staying here for at least 12 years when we came to Wausau for theater. We pay a premium price to stay here compared other properties in the area. We always enjoyed our stay here, that was until yesterday. We had noticed their prices going up of which I can understand to a degree. Yesterday, when checking in I asked for the usual breakfast voucher. We were told breakfast was no longer included. $165/night and no breakfast?! We stay at a lovely Super 8 in town on occasion for $90/night and that includes breakfast! We have one more stay scheduled for March 20th that we will probably cancel, and most likely never stay here again. I have noticed and mentioned how worn out the furniture in the rooms is looking but nothing has changed. Higher price, no improvement.

This was a Valentine’s Day trip. So we booked the room with the fireplace and the hot tub. Upon arrival, the fireplace did not work. The maintenance man came up and could not fix it. I approached the front desk saying I would like either a refund or maybe a free breakfast which they did eventually give us. After dinner, we hopped in the hot tub and could not turn off the cold water. So we had to get out get dressed and call maintenance. He had to come from his home. It certainly was not the romantic getaway that we were looking for. The room was nice other than the carpet had big wrinkles in it.

The room was large and very clean, however the curtains do not cover the whole window. Sun comes into flood room second it is up. There was also a wedding going on and the music was so loud the paintings were vibrating in the room absolutly ridiculous. Staff was very nice

This hotel is not getting our business again. The free breakfast was in no way free, it was a $12 credit against an overpriced meal. We used 4 of the free meals the second morning, (the first morning they were understaffed and we were in too much of a rush to wait),with each of us ordering the standard “all American breakfast” priced at $15. (Eggs, meat, potatoes, toast). Only two of us ordered beverages, one coffee, one milk. With tip our free breakfast cost us $40. To make matters worse, the food was so unappetizing, we left the majority uneaten. We paid less for better food the remaining mornings at the chocolate cafe nearby for the non free breakfast ($35). In addition, for a 4 night stay we never received housekeeping. We were informed at check in we would have cleaning after night 3, blaming being short staffed, but it never happened. Apparently you have to do an additional request for the service. Needless to say, 4 people family in town to ski, in a two queen room, one little soap and shampoo, 3 bath towels, garbage never being removed, etc. is ridiculous at this price, and not a property I would rate as premium. We ended up just dumping our overflowing garbage in the hallway and taking towels from the pool. I worked in the travel industry for over a decade, and this hotel is one of the most disappointing stays I’ve ever had. Avoid this property at all costs if staying more than one night, and skip the “free” breakfast-and most likely the char house altogether.
