We had a wonderful stay: 8 ladies in our 70’s. Very clean; supplied well, gorgeous views, quiet. We had so much fun. Two caveats: the living room pullout couch bed desperately needs to have a mattress topper to put on it. It is un-sleepable. And the two step down steps need to have visible edge strips, as they are dark and hard to see. A great place overall

Great location, very quiet and secluded. Host left a handmade pumpkin roll in the refrigerator that we forgot about until the morning we were leaving. Back porch area was very nice and a great place to hang out while grilling.

We had a wonderful stay! Monte & Sherry were so kind and even baked fresh cookies for us! The bed and sheets were very comfortable and everything was very clean. Our dog Roxi loved it too!

We could not have asked for a better place to have our family together 4 days than The Dugout! Plenty of space, clean lodging, comfy beds and well stocked with the right things. Th e covered patio, veranda & the fire pit area were great. It was great to be back in the foothills again & the vistas were amazing. We even had two Border Collies adopt for part of the stay. Close to Perini's too.

We had a wonderful get away. Very peaceful and out in the country. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. The host was very accommodating and responded very quickly to any of my inquiries. We would definitely stay there again.

Dugout Mountain

Our stay was amazing! The property was so relaxing, the back porch is a great spot to bbq and unwind. We felt right at home and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay a few minutes from Abilene. We will definitely book again!

A getaway in the hills of West Texas

Our cousins reunion found the perfect place to enjoy a comfortable ranch style home with all the essentials and very pleasant hosts. There was room to spread out on a deck and a patio and all kinds of nature to hike, fly kites, play games and take in the big sky of West Texas. Loved it!!!

Peaceful stay on a mountain

Monte had everything prepared for us. One of the best VRBO experiences I have ever had. The views were incredible and the area quiet. My wife and son found fossilized shells and different rocks while exploring.

Great place for family members out of town

Wonderful place to stay. Didn't get a chance to explore much due to social obligations. Only 6 minutes from my family's house. So very convenient. I will keep this location saved for future family events.

Beautiful view of the Mesa!

This property was beautiful! The house was cozy and perfect for our family. We walked in to fresh baked cookies on the counter and some cold water in the fridge. The home was very clean and was fully stocked with kitchen supplies and clean bath towels. Plenty of room for our group of 7 adults to sleep. We didn't spend much time outside (only because it was over 100 degrees) while we were there. Their back porch is awesome and full of fun games and a beautiful waterfall. We were in the area for a family reunion and if the reunion happens again next year in Buffalo Gap, we will book here again. Thank you Monte and Sherry for sharing your home and your hospitality! We would love to come back!

Back again

Had to book this very comfortable country place again for our visit to Buffalo Gap. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the view of the valley, wild life and quiet country living. Never disappoints!
