Beautiful little home perfect for our family vacation. The host was very responsive. Loved the backyard for the kids to play! suggestion: some window seals had mold on them and the room where the water heater is in smells very moldy as well which perhaps might to be looked at and could be a reason why the house had this wired odor. Loved the stay and would come back!

The property was lovely and as described. It was in a questionable neighborhood but felt safe after we checked in. The check in process was a little wonky, but ended up being fine. It is was decorated very cute and felt very comfortable. Would stay here again!

Mermaid Cottage

Perfect location, very clean, very comfortable, quiet neighborhood. Everything we needed to cook nice meals was present. Nice fun decor. Ample space for two couples and three teens. Highly recommend.

Girls Weekend

We enjoyed our stay at the Mermaid Cottage. The property was clean and had everything we needed. The neighborhood is a transitional neighborhood so we felt a little nervous at first. The grass had not been cut when we were there but I am sure they have had rainy weather that prevented them from cutting it before we arrived. We will definitely consider staying here again if we are in the area.

We all enjoyed our “home base” in St. Augustine. It was so great to return to the quiet of Mermaid Cottage after the masses of humanity in Old Town.

Perfect for us!

The Mermaid cottage is a delightfully decorated home, exactly as described on line. Spacious, comfortable, tasteful and just beautiful! We appreciated initial paper product supplies, shampoos and soaps and the bonus was a more-than-adequate spice cabinet! And the coffee bar was so grand! We were not able to enjoy the gathering area outside due to the season’s intense heat but the patio served nicely for morning coffee. Easily 5+ stars and would love to stay again!

Disappointed- Moist and musty house!

The reviews on this cottage baffle me- is nobody going to mention the smell? We arrived at 11pm, and immediately upon opening the front door were hit with the smell of mustiness and it only got worse the further we walked into the house. The coral bedroom and the main bedroom with the queen bed had the least amount of smell, but the rest of the house just reeks. Our daughter has asthma along with bad allergies, so we knew we wouldn’t be able to stay. We all woke up the next morning stuffy, with puffy eyes and just feeling gross- we were out of there as soon as possible. The house is surface clean, but they have a serious mold issue somewhere. I understand that the house is in an older area- but they know there is moisture because there were 3 “moisture eliminator” traps that we saw in various rooms. Pros: well stocked, surface clean Cons: mold, moist and musty, located in a not so great neighborhood, which may not matter depending on how much time you spend in the house. I definitely wouldn’t have felt comfortable sitting out in the backyard at night

We all had a great time. Loved having a cool home to come to after a day of sightseeing and wedding activities. Private and welcoming. The only complaint is the mattress on the Hide abed. It was a "torture rack". The inquiry about the iron was addressed very quickly.

Hidden Gem

We stayed at The Mermaid Cottage while visiting St. Augustine. It was a lovely stay. The house is located close enough to anything you would need. Everything is just a short drive away. The owners had a binder full of so much helpful local information as well as their story on the journey of remodeling the house which we enjoyed. I cant wait to come back again and see what other transformations have taken place. I would love to see the large backyard transformed into a tropical oasis fitting of Florida. There's a lot of potential there. I loved the layout and decor of the cottage and I really felt like the owners had really thought of anything we may have needed during our stay. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and there was plenty of bedding and towels available for our family of 4. Thanks for helping to make our trip amazing. Hope to visit again soon!

Very uncomfortable

This property would not even be recommend to stay if you ask me. The location is not good at all, doesn’t feel safe at all. The AC broke after the first night and the temperature in the house reached to 95 degrees being summer in Florida. The owner was going to come install portable units at 4Pm that afternoon. We had to leave the location, we were on vacation in a house with unbearable heat. The Owner gave no apology, or any type of refund. Save your trip and stay somewhere else!

Provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay! Plenty of room for the family. It was extra hot during our stay and they delivered an extra fan without us asking! Fire pit to make s’mores, grill to bbq and just a shirt walk to downtown to enjoy the best tacos!
