For the amount of money we paid, this rental was outrageously overpriced given all the issues we experienced.It started right away—there was no BBQ in the backyard, even though the listing showed one. When I contacted the host, they said, “Wow, that is a mistake by the property management company. I apologize for that. I am contacting them right now to update.” That didn’t help us in the moment, as I had brought only BBQ food and had to make an extra trip to Safeway to buy groceries we could actually cook.The oven didn’t work properly either. It never heated above 300F, which made cooking dinner a nightmare. It took over an hour just to cook basic chicken breasts. Clearly, the appliance is old and in need of replacement.That evening, the house was still around 80F inside, even though it had been over 100F outside during the day. Every time I adjusted the Nest thermostat, it reset itself to 80 within a few minutes. I know how Nest works—I have them in my own home—so it was obvious the host was controlling it remotely. After contacting them again, they finally set it to 72, but that shouldn’t have been something I had to fight for.To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi didn’t work and none of the TVs were functioning. I had to reach out to the host once again to have them reboot everything so we could use the internet and TVs.Then, at 7:48 AM the next morning, a gardener started landscaping right outside, waking us all up.
