Good location in historic building. Rooms were small, but passable, though very overpriced! At least they were clean - at first! Front desk staff was not very friendly or accommodating. Cleaning staff did a rather poor job. Stayed in downtown Pittsburgh many times, at half a dozen different locations, and this one was one of the more underwhelming ones.

I’m honestly shocked at how dirty my room was at Joinery Hotel Pittsburgh. From the moment I walked in, it was clear housekeeping either rushed through it or skipped it altogether. There was visible dust on multiple surfaces, stains on the bedding, and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. The floors looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed, and there were random crumbs and debris near the bed. For the price and reputation, this was completely unacceptable. A clean room is the bare minimum expectation at any hotel. I did not feel comfortable during my stay, which completely ruined the experience. I would not recommend staying here unless cleanliness standards improve significantly.

The room itself was large. Beds were not well made. The furniture looked dated and tired. One lampshade had a strange brown stain on the side that looked like it might have been coffee. The windows were absolutely filthy so you couldn't really see anything clearly. The view from our room was of... you guessed it! A very bright, well lit and noisy parking lot. There's no way to describe the parking situation around this hotel. It's like Thunderdome. You end up having to park in one of many private lots, which I thought was odd since our room faced out over the... Parking Lot!! No signage, no customer service agents, nothing. You're basically left to your own devices in a sketchy part of town. The elevators are outdated, small, and seem like a security hazard. On returning to our room on night two, we were disappointed to see that the room had not been made up at all and it was approaching 6PM. Housekeeping did knock and ask if we wanted the room flipped, but I passed as it was late and it seemed pointless.The amenities in the room were, again, tired and seemed not to make any sense at all. Bigelow (kind of high end) luxury shampoo, lotion and wash in the BR, but then a shower head that barely works and you give the guests a total of 3 towels each (2 r hand towels) for two days? The biggest thing for me, though, when staying at hotels anywhere, is safety. I literally was able to enter and leave the hotel through a door that was propped open and led directly outside! Stay AWAY!

Can’t leave more than a 4 unfortunately because the room had very little storage and the TP wasn’t replenished. Breakfast option was a good deal and the wifi was great. Clean gym but check in was not informative…Just robotic. Will stay elsewhere downtown next time. Price was very competitive which is why we chose it.

We stayed for Valentine’s Day weekend and had such a peaceful night. Everyone was very nice, check in and out was quick and easy. The only thing I don’t like is they charge you $75 upon checking in, in case there’s any damages but say you’ll get it back. I haven’t received it yet so hopefully I do. Besides that it was such a nice place to stay and we plan to come back again soon!
