We started our Portugal trip with 3 days in Lisbon, staying in the Rossio Square area, and ended it with 2 days at the AlmaLusa Baixa & Chiado hotel before flying back to the US. We selected AlmaLusa for a change of pace and to experience another area of Lisbon. We arrived at the hotel via the train from Faro, and metro into the Baixa-Chiado station. We made the mistake of leaving the station at the top of the hill and had to walk down to get to the hotel. Luckily I found the metro entrance on Rue de Crucifixo which was much closer, making it easier to get to other areas of Lisbon. AlmaLusa is conveniently situated close to the waterfront, only 3 blocks away. And within 10 minute walk, or metro stop, from Rossio Square. The property is very nice, with polite and helpful staff. And the flavored ice water in the reception area was appreciated since it was hot during our stay. We received a free room upgrade which was extremely nice. Our suite was on the 1st floor and had an "English manor" feel with carpet, dark wood trim and a big brick fireplace in which the tv was located. We also received a complementary bottle of champagne, which is always a nice touch. We did not use many of the amenities since we were trying to get last minute Lisbon errands done in our two days. But we did dine at the adjacent restaurant (Delfina), enjoying a nice meal in their outdoor patio. Overall, staying at AlmaLusa Baixa & Chiado hotel was a pleasant way to end our two weeks in Portugal.

Our stay at the AlmaLusa Baixa & Chiado in Lisbon was overall a very enjoyable experience. The hotel’s location is outstanding — centrally located with virtually everything within walking distance, making it the perfect base to explore the city’s historic neighborhoods, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The rooms were modern, clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, creating a relaxing atmosphere after long days of sightseeing. We also enjoyed the restaurant and bar area, which added to the boutique luxury feel of the property. Our only criticism involved the front desk staff upon arrival. We arrived several hours before official check-in, fully understanding that our room might not yet be ready. However, we were disappointed by the lack of effort, warmth, and hospitality shown during that interaction. A little flexibility or simply a more welcoming attitude would have gone a long way. That said, the excellent location, comfortable accommodations, and overall charm of the hotel still made for a very positive stay in Lisbon.

My wife and I just stayed at the Almalusa Baixa last week and it was a fantastic experience. It was our first time visiting Portugal and they were a great first stop. Our driver (Pedro) was waiting for us when we arrived and got us to the hotel quickly, even though there was a marathon that day. When we arrived, we were greeted by Diego and Fabiana at the front desk. Both were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They gave us a lowdown on the hotel, amenities, etc. and also providing a lot of great recommendations for our 3 days in Lisbon (site seeing, food, etc.). They also told us what to avoid and keep an eye out for in certain areas. The recommendations they gave us were very local focused. We were in close proximity to a lot, but also not on a main street, which was nice. 10 minute walk in any direction had us in a lot of great places for food/drink, sites, and shopping. The room itself was great. Very clean, comfortable, and always services timely. It was our favorite hotel stay during our 10 days visit. Can’t say enough good things about the hotel and its staff. It was a night and day experience from what we had elsewhere. I would highly recommend the Almalusa Baixa in Lisbon for anyone considering a trip to Lisbon.

The room was nice, and the staff were wonderful and very helpful throughout our stay. One thing to note is that arriving by Uber can be a bit inconvenient, they drop you off about a block away, which isn’t ideal if you have a lot of luggage. Breakfast was okay, but there’s no à la carte option. Even if you only have something small, like egg whites as I did, you’re still charged the full €17.
