Fantastic location. Being located above Mineral 1886, makes it convenient to get breakfast in the mornings. The building itself also has a lot of charm. The downside of being an older building is that there are a lot of little peccadillos; eg, the water temperature fluctuating a little bit, lots of creaking wood, no elevator, and very little sound proofing (I could hear everybody walking past my door and the people in the room above and beside mine). Also, the parking situation could be a little better.

No elevator at this old hotel so 3rd floor room at 10,000 ft elevation was a challenge for an old couple like us.

Great Location to explore Leadville

Stayed in room with king bed, twin and trundle twin. Room very big with nice sitting area … very clean. King has a memory foam mattress. Twin was a bit squeaky for adult who moved alot at night ( probably fine for a child/heavy sleeper) so we used the pull out trundle instead which was comfortable. Room was a bit stuffy so used provided fan and opened window . Nice shower/hot water. Large lot to park car. Staff very nice. Fun info on “haunted” rooms.

What a wonderful, historic hotel ! It’s right in downtown Leadville. The staff was so nice, the room and bed were super comfy. I would definitely stay here again. Two things to be aware of. There are some very steep stairs ans no rooms on the first floor and no elevator. It’s a historic old hotel so not a surprise, just if you have trouble navigating stairs, it’s something to take into consideration. Also no A/C. Not really an issue with our stay last night, but in summer again something to consider. It shouldn’t be an issue since Leasdville is at 10,000+ feet. Stay here is you can, a step back into history AND they have free donuts for the hotel guests in the afternoon !

The Delaware is great!! My girlfriend and I have stayed there many times. Cool historic hotel with great staff and a great bar and restaurant. The only thing that was an issue was the shower in room 203. There was no drain cover so things could just fall down the drain if you accidentally dropped them and the water temperature was extremely erratic. Temp went from hot to cold many times while in the shower. Other than that the place is great!!

So much character in this historic hotel with such a wonderful atmosphere and friendly front desk attendant. We’ll be back one day for our next mountain trip.

Pros- Grand old hotel with some modern touches. Nice restaurant in lobby. Coms- No elevators and steep, old stairs made bringing bags up and down tough. Not a good choice for anyone with accessibility issues. Shortage of staff at times.

Very nice staff and great location. But super noisy so bring ear plugs. Beds were ok. Not the worst. Also small rooms but to be expected in an old hotel.

Arrived for a 1 night stay enroute to a ski area. At check in the young woman at the desk recognized my advanced age and volunteered to bring my suitcase up the endless stairs - I accepted. Still at 10,000 feet altitude and coming from sea level, the stairs were formidable (no elevator). The room was bright with a variety of old images. The queen bed was comfortable and had a new mattress. I slept well. The room had a newly renovated bathroom with a very snug shower. The furniture was vintage. The chair in the room was wobbly and I feared it might collapse - I reported it. I did not eat breakfast, so I cannot comment on the cuisine. At the suggestion of the desk clerk, I had dinner at the Treeline restaurant across the street. Had a blackened whitefish (tasty) and Colorado skillet corn muffins (the best I have ever had). All in all a brief but pleasant stay in a historic hotel that is aging.

The beds are not standard queen beds and the hotel is providing false advertising by saying they are. I have slept in a standard queen bed for over 20 years and also the front desk even said the bed looked small. We measured the bed and it was not a standard queen. That’s ok if it’s not but don’t say that it is and don’t charge for a standard queen when it’s not
