Needs a Lot of Work

The inside of the cabin was clean and acceptable. There was a lamp by the sink that provided the only light because the ceiling light did not work. The deck outside had huge cobwebs. The steps to the dock were rotten with big holes which is a safety hazard. The two kayaks were not usable because the seats were broken and there was no pedal boat available even though the description said there was one. We did use the canoe to enjoy the lake. After the second day a big wet spot appeared beside the picnic table with fowl smelling water. We had a good stay in spite of the condition of the property but would not stay there again.

Nice Cabin, disappointed with inaccurate description

Overall, the cabin itself is pretty nice and comfortable. Check-in was easy, the cabin was neat and clean. The basic supplies such as garbage bags and dishwasher detergent are lacking. The biggest problem is the inaccurate descriptions of ameneties along with the horrible condition of what is there. There is no paddle boat, there is no hammock, the picinic table has at least one rotten board in the middle of it, the steps leading to the dock are rotten and unsafe (one collapsed when I stepped on it) I would post pictures if reviews would accept them, there are a few rotten boards in the dock, the railing on the left side of the dock is not attached and is unsafe, the area around the dock is thick muck and unsuitable for swimming access, the fire pit is rusted through and collapsed to the side, one of the plastic chairs by the fire pit had a leg broken off and was thrown up by the side of the cabin, the other plastic chairs don't feel safe to sit in. Overall, if you forget about using anything down by the waterside, the cabin is very nice. The back deck overlooking the water is a great place to just sit and relax or have a meal.

Good location and amenities but maintenance needed.

Pros: Comfortable rustic house. Good lake location and access. Nice to have kayaks, canoe, fishing gear, and swim floats available. Beds were comfortable. Owners were responsive when contacted about issues (burnt out lightbulbs). Cons: Septic effluent leaking to surface (by stairs to dock) anytime shower, laundry, or dishwasher were used. Railing on dock was wobbly - potential safety hazard. Sheets had holes in them. One bedroom door warped so bottom did not fully close resulting in lack of privacy. Very squeeky interior doors. Dusty under all couches and arm chairs. Overall: cabin has lots of potential but premium rental and cleaning fees were not equivalent to what was provided.

Less than expected

Dated. Needs updating. Doors don’t close well. Worn furniture and linens. No effort made to take care of the outside areas, which is important for a rental like this one. It’s on a pond next to lake Lure, not lake Lure. Wouldn’t rent again.

Good for the most part

This cabin was mostly decent. Fairly clean except for some of the corners and we found a few dirty dishes in cabinets. Pics in listing seemed to be older pics and things were a little more run down. Dock railing had come away from post on one side and was a little dangerous. Area around dock was mucky and not a good place to put in to swim. We were interupted in our pajamas having breakfast on deck by people coming to pump out septic tank and they left a big muddy mound in yard from the digging . That was a little annoying and not the breakfastI atmosphere I wanted. I understand these things have to be done but a heads up would have been appreciated. The home was well stocked and mostly comfortable. The listing had a paddle/peddle boat which we were looking forward to but it wasnt there. It should be removed from amenities list. There was also a hammock which was broken and filthy tossed under the deck. Despite some of the cons we enjoyed ourselves. I just think listing needs updated so expectations are met and that dock needs repaired ASAP!

Worst Experience Ever!

When we arrived for our scheduled stay we found that there were already people staying in the house! We contacted the host and their property manager told us that the owner decided to let her daughter use the cabin for the same time that we had reserved! So, there we were with our fully packed car and dog with no place to stay because the owner made a mistake! To be fair, they did offer us the use of a different house but it wasn't on the lake, it didn't have direct access to the water, it didn't have kayaks or a canoe, and it had a ton of stairs that would have made it difficult for us to get our belongings into the house. I asked them to have the owners daughter move but the owner declined. They kept insisting the replacement house was better, but apparently it wasn't good enough for the owner's daughter to move to. They didn't even offer a discount on their other house until I stated that we didn't like the replacement house. The owner then chose to get an attitude with me (as if I had no right to be upset that they ruined our vacation), and falsely accused me of being vulgar and making threats, which isn't true. This owner didn't even seem to care that they ruined our vacation because they mismanaged their booking calendar!

Mountain Getaway

Wonderful cabin on beautiful lake. We enjoyed this cabin & beautiful view of lake. Sat in swing on front poorch & rockers. Enjoyed eating breakfast & lunch on back poorch facing lake. Had wonderful fire in firepit. Love this cabin.

Nice restful cabin

We enjoyed our stay in this nice secluded cabin. Nice view of the lake and adequate amenities in the cabin. The cabin itself is rustic and well used but it was clean upon arrival. The back patio was full of dog hair and the septic system needed some attention. We were never checked on by the owners but I suppose that’s how they roll. They always answered our questions. If you have any mobility issues, getting down to the lake is quite the challenge. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Total property less than advertised

The grounds and the setting were beautiful. The house was very disappointing. The cabin needs lots of TLC, updating and inclusion of basic amenities. We have rented cabins in North Carolina for over 15+ years. There was 2 small packets of firewood, enough for one day, not for two weeks. I have NEVER had to buy firewood for any stay in that area. The grills were all rusty, with no charcoal to make a fire. We were without WIFI and cable until fixed, and an oven for 5 days. We had to cut our vacation short due to this lack of basic maintenance.

A nice quiet retreat

My husband and I had a lovely, quiet four night stay in this well-equipped, homey, lakefront cabin. A great place for some peaceful time away from home, it comes equipped with kayaks and a paddle boat if you're looking for a little exercise, and is only a short drive (or a long walk) to a sandy beach and a riverside nature path with shaded picnic tables.

Awesome cabin in beautiful area

My girlfriend and I stayed 5 days at this cabin. The cabin is really nice and clean as you see in there pics. We used the canoe and went fishing in the lake. We hiked chimney rock. We also rented quads at boon life adventures and went horseback riding at cedar creek stables. We had a great time in lake lure. I highly recommend this cabin it's really nice

Best lake access

This is the third year visiting this community of Riverbend in Lake Lure. We love this area. This particular cabin has the best lake access (no stairs), view, and yard. The cabin interior needs updating, however. If your interest is in swimming off the dock and canoeing, you'll like this cabin. The large screen TV is good with Hulu access.

Great view

We enjoyed the view of the lake. We also enjoyed paddle boating. The local restaurant, The Highlands Bar and Grill, was delicious and convenient. We would definitely recommend this cabin.
