This is a very nice hotel for an extremely competitive price. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They had our luggage delivered directly to our room without having to be asked. Excellent customer service.

This hotel is an old-school 5-star hotel with doormen, concierge service, etc. I say "old-school" because it shows in the decor: quite conservative, a bit dated especially when compared to a more modern 5-star hotel. But the staff across the board are wonderful, incredible polite, and happy to be of service in every way. Very typical of professional Japanese service. One obvious weakness: The "business" center is one simple computer. But the rooms are equipped with healthy wi-fi so I didn't need the services of a business center. It is wonderfully located in Kyoto with tons of restaurants and shopping near by.

Well located with an exceptionally attentive staff. what really sets this property apart is their incredible housekeeping staff who actually anticipate your needs by what you use in your room. Complimentary water and daily English language newspaper was also a nice touch. Another convenience was the underground Kyoto subway station connected to the hotel together with a shopping mall! Elegance and service at a reasonable price!

I did not try the breakfast and never ate in the hotel . The staff was amazing. They made all my dinner reservations and their recommendation were outstanding. The location is perfect for everything. The hotel was great. The first rose was so tiny I had to move .they got me a much nicer room and charged me 7000 yen more per night but worth it. The second room was great. I would stay again in a heartbeat. I was in 4 hotels on this trip and Okura was by far the best

The hotel is a traditional and historical luxury hotel. It is spacious and has old but beautiful style. If you appreciate old grandeur, you can appreciate this hotel. It has many important events. We were there to witness a big event with dozens of geishas walking in. Great in room shiatsu service. We did it 2 times.
