The Hampton inn was very clean & spacious. There was free breakfast but we slept in so we didn't actually eat it. Since it's downtown it was very easy to walk to any kind of restaurant and there were many restaurants. We did eat dinner at a place called Munday which was a cute 40s style restaurant with American food. The food was reasonably priced. A lot of places in Huntington are expensive so it was nice to find a restaurant that was reasonable. There's also a cat cafe that we went to & just loved it. It's on main Street about a 10 minute or so walk from the hotel. There is a privacy screen on the window which is good because the building across the street looked like it was some kind of condos and they could see right into our hotel window. They had a little sundry shop with food which we took advantage of getting some snacks. There's also a very nice sitting area outside with a fire pit and a sitting area inside with a TV. The main downside is the parking. You could do a valet and some days it was $20 but other days it was $10 or you'd have to find a parking spot somewhere downtown. There's a small parking lot behind the hotel and we were fortunate to find a spot two nights in a row for free but it was a little inconvenient with luggage. Downtown is quite big & I'm sure there's something there for everyone. We enjoyed Old Westbury gardens, absolutely gorgeous, & Vanderbilt Estate, both about 20-25 minutes drive.
